Some DC Characters were better before the reboot. I'm talking characterization--not costumes.

For example, Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle had a much better written book and personality pre-reboot.

Can you think of any other examples?

No, but seriously aside from Red Robin (who's characterisation i still like, however feel isn't as strong as previously) i can't really think of any characters i personally think were better pre-52.

Edit: Scratch that. I just remembered Green Arrow. Horrible, horrible characterisation so far, i know they were going for the smallville angle but they haven't even done that right! Hopefully Nocenti will set that straight.

Captain Atom was great before, now he's basically become the DCU's Dr. Manhattan.

Green Arrow was also great before, he could've had a great road to redemption story after Brightest Day. Now he's just an average hero with his past problems swept under the rug. And I know you said no costumes, but the lack of goatee still ****ing angers me.

GA and Clark. Ga was completely screwed over by the reboot, 99% of his appeal pre-new 52 was how screwed up he was. Clark probably had the best and worst reboot of all of them. He benefits from an awesome writer in Action Comics but lost his parents, his wife , his son and his dog.

@The_Tree: I haven't read Green Lantern yet, only Justice League but in it, he's a MAJOR douche. Hal was always kind of a douche, but not that bad.

He's a douche in JLA and a major bitch in GL. All he does is complain.

Personally, I think EVERY character was better pre-relaunch. I like the New 52 a lot, but I prefer the old.

@Morgaine_de_Bourbon:I really haven't seen enough of her to figure out how much has changed but so far I'm not seeing a radical personality shift. The only thing that's really changed (as far as I can tell from her limited appearances so far) is that she has both eyes and may not be Slade's daughter.

The only characters that I like more now, post-relaunch, are Animal Man and Superman. The rest I either like equally as much now as before (such as Zatanna, Deadman, and Batman) or I think are completely ruined (such as Barbara Gordon, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, The Birds of Prey, Roy Harper, etc.), or they are missing and I'm worried about how much they'll be changed in the future (such as Renee Montoya).

I like the new poison ivy and i love birds of prey. Missing Renee Montoya!!!

Hal Jordan is exactly the same as before pre-launch.

I'll also say that Robotman was better. He just seems off, his powers don't seem right to me, and if I'm not mistaken they changed his origin yet again. Keith Giffen gave the perfect origin and characterization of the character pre-relaunch.

I don't think Zatanna was better before. She's quite the same, but the old costume was better.

Weather Wizard's look is eh.

Starfire, Roy Harper, Hawk and Dove, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn and Deathstroke are characters that didn't need to be changed in the New 52 IMO.

Actions Comics Superman is doing excellent so far but the current Superman run is/was horrendous. Here's hoping that the new creative team kicks it up several notches.
