Hey just want to know about some really bad batman stories?
DC Comics
Originally known as "National Publications", DC is a publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Justice League of America, and the Teen Titans, and is considered the originator of the American superhero genre. DC, along with rival Marvel Comics, is one of the "big two" American comic book publishers. DC Entertainment is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers and its parent company Warner Media.

@arturocalakayvee: How is Death in the Family bad?

Death in the Family is good. I specifically said Death OF the family. There's a difference.

My bad on that.
@frozen: No worries. It sucks that the names are similar because ones a really good story and the other…fail. :P

Lol, too true. A Death in the Family is compelling, Death of the Family wasn't...well..good.
Everything Frank Miller has written involving the character after 1987.
don't forget Bruce Timm too lol (jk)
@frozen: oh think god i thought i was alone on that one death of the family i mean what a lame story
All of them. =)
You stole my line. :c
If you are a fan of Batman: Earth One is hard to enjoy. First two volumes of Detective Comics were pretty trite, same for Batman: The Dark Knight.
Not true at all ! Big fan of Batman, and found this story awsome (earth-one).
Are you talking about "The Dark Knight" in new52 ?

I actually thought War Games and Hush Returns were ok. I liked the way War Games worked within the world that had been gradually created since No Man's Land, and I found Hush much more interesting as a criminal trying to carve out a piece of Gotham.
Personally, as a huge Batman fan I've come across tonnes of terrible Batman stories. When I think of the modern era, I go with
- Batman LDK: Irresistible (LDK 169-171)
- Batman: Gotham After Midnight
- Batman & Robin: The Sum of Her Parts (B&R 17-19)
- Batman: Cacophony
- All the Rage
- Batman: Odyssey
- Batman: The Last Angel
- Batman: The Abduction
...and you can keep going for a while. I find a lot of the Elseworlds were terrible (though some are the best Batman comics) and other company crossovers usually are pretty bad.
@minisaladfresh: I liked it, it was definitely an interesting psychological break inside the bat family.
Whoa, this list now has Death of the Family, Zero Year, and Endgame... So Court of Owls is the only story from Scott Snyder's best-selling, award-winning, critically acclaimed run that people here actually like??
This goes against everything I have been been led to believe over the last four years.

I've read Court of the owl and it's an awsome story. But I've read Death of the Family and it's the worst Batman story I've read so far and I'm not the only one to think so. But concerning Zero Year that I haven't read, I believe it is not concidered one of the worst.
@jb681131: How come? I didn't personally see any real problems with Death of the Family, what's the beef?

Not an inovative scenario. Similar stories already written. Badly executed plot. Maybe some acceptable dialogue in the begining. A disapointing and obvious ending.
Even if it's a relaunch, the joker with a mask is wrong. It's against its personality. You can search on comicvine, there are posts discussing of the joker's new looks.
And in comparasson with "The man who laughs" and "Death in the family", this story is so inferior. You can also search on comicvine for thread on what people think about the new52 Batman title.
In conclusion I was so disapointed with the Joker and the Story. I think Scott Snyder doesn't grasp the whole Batman universe very well. His best stories are always isolated stories with no link to anything else in the Batman universe : Gates of Gotham, Court of Owls, Black Mirror. Grant Morrison had a much better knowledge of the Batman's past stories.
I can see why it pleases. It's like the current Marvel movies, lots of people appraise them, but Marvel comics fans and Movie experts will tell you they are really bad !
Batman: Year Two is also bad

Death in the Family is also not really a good story. The whole story relies on a lot on coincidences and the change of Jasons behaviour is also not really good written/explained.
Honestly didn't really like Death in the Family, and actually preferred Death of the Family to it. But that's just me...
So I honestly didn't read all these posts nor have I read all the comics but after 31 years I've got a good grasp of batman and his villains (I understand villains better) I've tried twice now to share my opinion and have it heard to only hit forum "mechanics" that have completely f@#?'# each time (3rd times a charm?)
Bats only wants to help, right? Problem is you can't fix the joker,Bane,Zazz etc. But has anyone ever tried to fix Edward? Yes the riddler.
My other examples are the face of "true evil" (I can explain if needed, but only once.I hate constantly repeating myself)
Edward isn't evil, he's broken.
Watching Gotham (save your opinions please love/hate) and it struck me!
Edward doesn't fit as a villain because he's not actually one ( he just doesn't know it yet) it's easy to think of cases of this. Here's my personal favourite: "it's always a good idea to leave a few ideas to defuse the bomb! " (lex) ' weren't not doing the "riddle thing" Eddie'
"what Am I EVEN HERE for then? '" ~~#RCDC (robot chicken)
Edward is here to challenge "us"
Bats can end this by actually challenging him though,(right?)
Here's my overall pitch: the game arkham Knight is out. This game would've been perfect but is pretty much finished. They have missions where you get to play different batman characters (awesome, right!) harley is by far my favourite for alot of the same reasons this would work.
Have batman kidnaps(something has to give bats advantage this is key)
Batman sets his OWN challenges up to test Edward! ( Ed would probably die of joygasm)
Batman is strong, smart, and quick witted.
The Riddler is weak, very smart, and can plan a good step ahead.
They both have different gadgets and pros/cons but these suit my point.
Reverse rolls means reverse mechanics.
Riddler has to button mash (grate open action) all the time! This will build arm strength and challenge it (see where I'm going here) make fight mechanisms fun by button mash/sequence like God of war. Make it purposely look awkward and clumsy well Ed fights back(one of the best parts)
Bat will "tech" challenges and puzzles through out level. Ed results basically Ed wins but he's smart enough to learn the lesson. He wasted everything by challenging "us" when we we're always HIS challenge......... *mind explodes*
DC loves open ended stories like this could make Ed quit being, becomes a hero? Becomes a batman asset, etc
What do you guys think?
