The best currently released DC comics are Batman, Nightwing, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Aquaman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Red Hood and the Outlaws. You'd probably also like Justice League... the writing isn't the best, but the action is great.

If you like action you can't go wrong with a book like Justice League...it's the equivalent of a "big budget/crazy effects" action movie...Green Lantern is a good blend of both action and story too

The Earth One books are fun little one-offs, and volume 2 of Superman: Earth One comes out this fall. Kingdom Come is great and classic. Watch out with "Sinestro Corps War" and "Blackest Night" if you are not completely up on your Green Lantern (if you need help with that, I have a list of all the GL reading in-order you need to catch up all the way to the New 52).

Of the current New 52 titles, I would recommend Justice League, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Justice League Dark, and I, Vampire.

I would definitely recommend Justice League, Earth 2 and Batman Incorporated if action is what you're looking for. As for graphic novels my favorite action packed ones are Justice, Final Crisis, All-Star Superman, Batman: Hush and Blackest Night tho as mentioned before you need to be caught up on Green Lantern history first to understand the last one.

Try watchmen. That or Outsiders. The older Outsiders are better in my opinion.

Of these, you really want Kingdom Come. It's hands down my favorite DC "big event."

Superman: Earth One was better than Batman: Earth One, but I liked them both. For a better Batman Origin, you want Batman: Year One by Miller.

Of the New 52, you can't go wrong with Action Comics, Aquaman, and Batman (that's where the Court of Owls is). Those are easily the best of the bunch. JL is alright, but that's on you. If your new to comics, that'd be a good read for you.

For Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night, there's a lot of build up to those in Geoff Johns's GL run. You wanna start with Rebirth, and work your way up. If not, you're better off just starting with GL's New 52 title.

    My personal recommendations are:

    • Superman: Birthright
    • Red Son
    • All-Star Superman
    • Batman: The Killing Joke
    • Batman: The Long Halloween
    • Batman: Hush
    • The Flash (Start with Rebirth and read Geoff Johns's run followed by Flashpoint)
    • Green Arrow: Year One
    • JLA: Tower of Babel
    • JLA (Morrison's run)
