DC Comics
Originally known as "National Publications", DC is a publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Justice League of America, and the Teen Titans, and is considered the originator of the American superhero genre. DC, along with rival Marvel Comics, is one of the "big two" American comic book publishers. DC Entertainment is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers and its parent company Warner Media.
DC comics reboot after Flashpoint???
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I'm starting to find a few things around DC rebooting again after Flashpoint. How pretty much all of it's storylines are ending in September and even a few books are shipping twice in one month to make sure this happens. Have we seen anything about this on here that I have misses, and is there any news anyone can tell us about this? Would do you people think about it. Mainly my concern is what happens to a lot of the younger characters in DC like Superboy, Damian Wayne, Red Robin etc.???? Will Oracle be Batgirl again?? HMMM??
Someone had a link up on the main page. Rumor is a broad Universal reboot or DC "Ultimate" line with a few current DC characters displaced into it.
Is anyone surprised I know it was probably confusing cause DC didn't put crisis in the name this time
I think that would the least of our concerns. Who really cares if Superman is gettin a blowjob from some reporter. What about characters like the Robins, and the GL corps members like Kyle, Guy and Jon. Would Batgirl walk again??? Would Wally West be Kid Flash again? Would Power Woman be Super Girl? Would some characters become killers like Hawkeye and Captain America do in Marvels Ultimate U??? That's what Im wondering.
Wasn't the last Crisis "Final Crisis"????Yup but they've found a way around it in Flashpoint. But i doubt they'll reboot everything,Morrisons INC story is still not complete(but then again he's the Goddamn Morrison).
Johns and Lee are supposed to make an announcement soon.
I would NOT be at all supportive of any kind of reboot. I've been kinda "meh" on the Flashpoint stuff mainly because I feel like it's just another one of those "Alternate Universe" storylines that will likely only have small repercussions on the DC Universe, but if indeed they are meaning to reboot the DC universe in some way... I'd feel even worse about it.
Nope the solicits don't indicate an ending,it could well be something along the lines of One Year Later.@entropy_aegis: supposedly all story lines will be ending after issue #5 of Flashpoint #5. Even Morrisons run.
Seems like a lot of universe shattering events at DC lately. Wouldn't everyone on DC Earth be crippled with PTSD by now?lol.

A 'universe' wide reboot would help wipe the slate clean & garner interest from new fans... but it would alienate longer fans who've already put up with a previous reboot/universe-wide retcon.
There might be major changes after Flashpoint, but I don't think DC will 'reboot'.
Sigh, I'll illustrate my feelings thusly;
Reboot = Me becoming Doctor Doom and ****ing up the World.
Large Retcons = Me becoming the Joker and ****ing up large amounts of people.
Minimal Retcons affecting characters I love = Me becoming Deadshot and ****ing up Geoff Johns
Minimal Retcons affecting characters I don't care about = Me being me and not caring.
No Retcons = Me being happy and buying heaps more DC books.
They're not gonna reboot they're just gonna retcon some stuff like usual, my guess is that Billy Batson will be Cap Marvel again only I think they'll call him Captain Thunder.

They're apparantely cancelling some books as well,DC should just rename itself Geoffcon Johns comics. It's getting sick and pathetic.
reminds me of Age of Apoclypse in a way. seems like a fun story, had no idea about the reboot rumor, and I'd be one of those guys who wouldn't really care if there was one. Funny thing is, everything I've read in terms of fan statements, is about people getting pissed off that Superman and Lois might not be married still. That just blows my mind that a lot of characters and story lines would just be done with and they're worried if Superman is gonna get a blowjob from Lois.
As comedic as the name 'Captain Thunder' might be, he looked more badass than ever.@ironshadow said:

Anyone interested in how Batman
is now Thomas Wayne?
If there is one thing Marvels Ultimate U showed us, it's that there can be 2 universes side by side and both be equally good. Sure the Ultimate U started having some really really shitty years because each book just seemed like a way to re-introduce a character in what was a modern version. It started SO damn good with the material written by Millar and Bendis. After Millar took his hiatus only Bendis Spider-man stayed good. If you look at a lot of the sales per-month when Millar was on Ultimates, X-men and FF the books were either going kneck to kneck to our out selling their 616 counter parts. I might be wrong, but I believe the Ultimates was doing better then the Avengers at the time. I wonder what it would be like to take some of the 616 hero's and throw them in the Ultimate U.
i get the feeling this isn't going to happen and if it does well that would just suck and in my opinion be lazy writing

according to bleeding cool:
In September, all the DC Comics published set within the DC Universe will be renumbered with new issue ones.
Every comic continuing from September will be relaunched with a shiny #1. Every. Single. One. With no current plan for the renumbering to reverse to any so-called “legacy” numbering.
And with those issue one renumberings, will come a new rejigged status quo. And yes, characters will be changed. Some may no longer exist. There will be new books, new creators, new teams, new characters and new… new. With no current plan for the new status quo to be undone or reversed.
also
DC Comics will publish a new Justice League ongoing comic book by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, the first title these two have worked together. Even if it’s been a while coming.
It will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and several other characters following the current Flashpoint crossover. It’s the return of the World’s Greatest Superheroes to the book for the first time in years.
The only thing that's going to be disappearing after this is former fans of DC. And ironically, they'll disappear in a Flash!
Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week!

Quoting CBM:
In the wake of its summer "Flashpoint" event, DC Comics will re-number its entire DC Universe line, debuting more than 50 first issues in September.
The sweeping line-wide change debuts on Aug. 31, when the pubisher releases just two comics -- the final issue of "Flashpoint," and the first issue of "Justice League" under the new creative team of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. According to DC Studio's Source Blog the premiere of "Justice League" will also mark the beginning of same-day digital release for all of the ongoing titles, "making DC Comics the first of the two major American publishers to release all of its superhero comic book titles digitally the same day as in print."
USA Today announced that the changes include costume redesigns for more than 50 superheroes, sprearheaded by Lee, intended "to make characters more identifiable and accessible to comic fans new and old."
"We looked at what was going on in the marketplace and felt we really want to inject new life in our characters and line," Co-Publisher Dan DiDio told the newspaper. "This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience."
The image that accompanied the USA Today story holds some clues to how sweeping the post-"Flashpoint" changes will be. It appears as if Wonder Woman's costume will remain largely the same as it's been since Lee redesigned it last year. The other characters' costumes all feature the same uniform neckline, and Superman sports a new "S" symbol across his chest.
why couldn't they just do their own Ultimate universe instead of wiping away everything....this is bullshit
