So I'm reading GL, GL Corp and GL New Guardians. I'll also start up RG too. Even though I understand the arc, I get a feeling I'm missing stuff. For example they talk about the battle with Black Hand. Also with New Guardians the history behind all the other Corps.

So I started looking and I found these graphic novels that may help give some background to what i'm reading in the comics.

    • Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns
    • Green Lantern: Agent Orange
    • Green Lantern: Blackest Night
    • Blackest Night: Black Lantern Corps Vol. 1
    • Blackest Night: Black Lantern Corps Vol. 2
    • Green Lantern: Secret Origin
    • Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 1
    • Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 2
    • Green Lantern, Vol. 1: No Fear
    • Green Lantern, Vol. 2: Revenge of the Green Lanterns
    • Green Lantern Vol. 3: Wanted - Hal Jordan

So I'm wondering if there any overlap in any of these graphic novels? Also what order should I read these? Is there also any other graphic novels that would help give a back history?

Of course I would recommend that you pick up as much GL as possible, but I do understand that you may be strapped for cash and the idea of purchasing all these trades may cause some hesitation.

In any case, I definitely recommend Rebirth, Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, War of the Green Lanterns, as a minimum...in that order.

@sinestro_gl: I do plan on picking up all of them. I think I found the complete order:

    1. Green Lantern: Rebirth
    2. Green Lantern, Vol. 1: No Fear
    3. Green Lantern, Vol. 2: Revenge of the Green Lanterns
    4. Green Lantern Vol. 3: Wanted - Hal Jordan
    5. Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 1
    6. Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 2
    7. Green Lantern: Secret Origin
    8. Green Lantern: Agent Orange
    9. Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns
    10. Green Lantern: Blackest Night
    11. Green Lantern: Brightest Day
    12. Green Lantern: War of the Green Lanterns
    13. War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath

I found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Lantern_(comic_book)#Green_Lantern_vol._4 that tells the order. Also goes into other volumes too.

I'm also interested in getting The Green Lantern Chronicles at some point.

I was going to buy all these but found out the local library has all these issues except Green Lantern: Secret Origin.

@mastrauckas: Then you're good to go! Enjoy Johns' run on GL...I'm actually quite envious of you, about to embark on his phenomenal run on the GL title for the first time.

@sinestro_gl: Yep, I have enjoyed it. However I've started reading Rebirth and it seems I must say I've enjoyed the book but I was a bit lost at times because the book talked about history I didn't know about. I ended up having to read the syllabus about the destruction of Coast City, Parallax and Spectre. Even after that, I just have enough information to understand Rebirth.

No Fear, Revenge of the Green Lanterns, Rage of the Red Lanterns, Agent Orange, and parts of Blackest Night are all garbage nonsensical marketing ploys.

    The rest are decent though.

Secret Origin is one of the best Green Lantern stories ever.
