Be a Hero - Help Fight Hunger and Get Exclusive Batman Stuff

Posted by G-Man (34326 posts) - - Show Bio

It was a year ago DC Entertainment launched their campaign to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa. Today they have announced the continuation along with new incentives to those that participate in the fight.

DC's "We Can Be Heroes" has been raising awareness and funds for the hunger crisis and has already surpassed their two-year goal of $2 million. A new initiative will offer fans limited-edition incentives for contributing to the cause.

In an article at USA Today, it was revealed that through May 7, Batman will be the main focus in the incentives for the first phase. Through Indiegogo, you can donate money and choose your incentive. You'll have to act fast as some (like BATMAN AND ROBIN #18, signed by Peter Tomasi) are already sold out. Other items include an exclusive Batman lithograph signed by Gary Frank and the chance to get drawn into a Batman graphic novel. Contributions are even tax deductible.

Check out Indiegogo or USA Today for more information.

I'm surprised more people haven't gone in on the $10 donation for June's Batman series downloads. Only 8 people claimed that reward so far. Besides being for charity, it's also a significant deal compared to the cover price of those comics, and $9 of the $10 are tax deductible.

Im more than likely going to go for the $10 dollar donation. Its a great deal even if Im probably going to still get most of those in print and its for a good cause. Im a little torn about whether or not I should get the shirt and/or the Batman/Superman exclusive variant. Both of them say that they will have art by Jim Lee but there arent any previews of it so Im not sure what it will look like. This is especially important for the shirt.

Wow people feel like they need a reward for helping people.

@deadpool25mm: Let's be honest. Anyone could have donated before. Clearly this was a move to bolster donations. I'm just saying Canadians can't do it.

@nightfang: maybe but until we have no debt, no poverty, no crime, no unemployment, a high leveleducation for all, and I can go on,. IMO companies, not just DC should look in their own back yard first.

Are problems can be fix if we stooped being greedy and stupid. Their problems are coursed by wars, poverty (much worse than ares), and diseases.

I'd pay $5,000 instantly if I have the money! However it's good to see many people supporting this movement, whether it's $10, $20 or even $1 million. Together we can do it. :)
