I have always wondered something. Why did the Kryptonians or the Martian not rule the univere? Or at least a huge chunk of it. I realize that now both the races are pretty much gone but look how strong a single one was. If either Races had the popluation of the United States, if they had the popluation of California what force who beat them? They would even out number the Green Lantern Corps.

maybe they dont want to and mind there buisness then again so did the skrulls untill the kree showed up

I'm not sure they knew about the whole sun thing and any planet in their system would have the same sun they had in any case.

also note, The Kryptonians of that generation couldn't leave their planet...

of the 5 most powerful races in the DCU... none of them could feasibly rule the universe...

1. OA'ns - Created the GL Corps to protect the universe... have no real wish to rule, only protect...

2. New Gods (New Genesis) - Aren't interested

3. Darkseid (Apokalypse) - kept in check by the GL Corps

4. Kryptonians - Couldn't leave their planet, and then doomed to practical extinction

5. Controllers - Too few of them, kept in check by the GL Corps

The Kryptonians were an empire for a time (as revealed in Superman #669 by Kristen Wells), but pulled back because the Science Council took over from the military. They were then, as Methos said, bound to Krypton.

because they are so advanced that they are not worried about universal ruling, they have long sinced realised they can live in peace and harmony on the one planet without the use of destruction and conquering.

Yellow sunlight gives them their power so they ;need to be on earth to do that and they are going to need an energy boost once in a while they are in space.

It would be cool to see Krypronians do what the Viltrumites did to the universe , perhaps maybe in an alternate universe

The Kryptonians had a vast galactic empire, they conquered many worlds when t\hey discovered they had powers under yellow sun but when the science council replaced the military council the empire was disbanded  and all kryptonians where ordered to return to Krypton but some did not return choosing to live their lives on the rub from their enemies and from kryptonian law.
