    A far better way to establish Alan Scott in the New 52

    Well the thing is, if you make the cape black, green in the inside, and mask green? Yeah, Alan Scott's costume works amazingly well. DC's idea of keeping up the purple coloring for outside of the cape and mask is what caused people to kinda laugh at it... To me, I've always loved Alan's GENERAL look. It has that kind of, powerful, mystical, almost intimidating look with the high collar cape.

    This? This makes it work for me. Also the fact that in this fan comic, JL8 if you're curious, Alan is a member of the GL Corps... I think that works. Add in the fact the Guardians wear red and this works AMAZINGLY well Alan is a GL Corps member, over on Jade gets the Starheart Lantern, and over on Earth 2 you can have gay young Alan.

    Hell, they could make him ION if they wanted, to keep him established as the most powerful Green Lantern, and this would only INCREASE his chances of being referenced for a damned change of pace in the movies!!

    Honestly I always thought his costume cool. It was really fun and unique. I don't think anyone really ever laughed at Alan's costume. At least I haven't seen anyone bashing it. Anyone who thinks his original look is stupid are probably the ones who think the armor look for superheroes are genius and not a cluttered, train wreck design.

    I like your Corps idea. Great stuff!

    @the_tree: @nateb1211: @crazyscarecrow:

    It wasn't so much a problem a during the Golden Age or most of the Silver and Bronze Ages. The purple was so dark you could notice it, but it wasn't distracting. Hell, I think it WAS originally meant to be black and the purple was a coloring mistake! Then some artists got the bright idea to make the purple as bright as possible! Taking what already worked as a superhero costume VERY well, and making the already odd yet interesting design choice all the more laughable to non comic readers. I mean WE know Alan is badass and cool, but other people look at the purple red and green costume and go

    "HA! HE'S Green Lantern?!"

    I just think that if you swap the purple on the cape for black, give him a green mask, it ties the whole look together a LOT better. It doesn't need a MASSIVE redesign! Just a SMALL color swap here and there.
