Winky, Blinky and Nod were three inept enemies of the Flash/Jay Garrick introduced in 1942. They were small time criminals but were convinced to reform. They went on to become among the Flash's regular supporting cast and to be featured in a series of their own in "All-Flash Comics".

Bulldog Drumhead was a parody of detective novel protagonist Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond, introduced in 1944. He was forced to adopt Oliver Wendell McDuffy, a boy orphaned after Bulldog imprisoned his father. He kept a series in "Funny Stuff" from 1944 to 1947. He was dropped in favor of new characters, Dodo and the Frog.

Lois Lane is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the Daily Planet of Metropolis. She was the first reporter to interview Superman after he first appeared in Metropolis. Superman later revealed his secret identity to her; the two married and have a son, Jon Kent.
The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.
Jay Garrick is the original, Golden Age, super-speedster, and was the first to have the mantle of the Flash and a founder of the Justice Society of America. It was Jay Garrick's legendary heroics that inspired Barry Allen.
One of the first detectives in Detective Comics, debuting in #1, a year before Superman first appeared.
