Spectacular Deadman, Hawkman and Hawkgirl collection.
This collection of DC comics is to showcase Deadman and the Hawks ( Hawkman and Hawkgirl) because those characters are important to Brightest Day.
I felt that this comic highlighted Deadman more, who is featured in four of the six stories.
The first story is from Solo #8 (Fun Fact: It was the 3rd most valuable of the Solo comics, Mike Allred's being the rarest and Darwyn Cooke's in second, before this comics was release. The Neil Gaiman story which is printed here is the reason for its former value). It is nice that the "On The Stairs" story was collected. It really is a rare Neil Gaiman story, it is a story that develops the Deadman character a little bit. We get to feel why it is lonely being Deadman. Neil Gaiman uses the "Stairwell" almost like a metaphor for life. It is a great story I am glad is available again.
The Criminal team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips created a Hawkman comic in their award winning Noir style. It is classic Noir from these comic masters.
The next two Hawkman comics are written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray ( Jonah Hex, Power Girl). The first comic was like the Brubaker/Phillips comic and was used to develop the Hawks and their eternal romance. The second comic featured Deadman and zombies on top of it. These two comics help to show the dynamics of these heroes and how they interact with each other.
The 2009 Christmas mini which featured Deadman was also a nice touch. I have a lot of respect for creators like Scott Kolins, who did both writer and artist duty in this story. At the time I didn't realize that Kolins had an inside track in the whole Blackest Night event with his Solomon Grundy mini. This mini story is a perfect fit because it features the Scarecrow and Deadman helps someone to "Choose Life".
This comic ends strong with Deadman's Origin. I can't believe how it holds up to day. It was a fun read and I loved the drug comments.

This is a great comic to have because of the rarities in it.
