Wait, What? Dazzler vs Enchantress In A Singing Contest?

Posted by Jake Fury (18640 posts) - - Show Bio

I get to work this morning and I'm randomly surfing around Comicvine. I notice a random thread involving the Enchantress so I decide to click on her page. A picture of her backhanding Dazzler catches my eye so I read a little further.

According to her CV page it says that she had a couple of signing contests with Dazzler at some point in history. To make a long story short, the Enchantress traveled to EArth to steal some mystical energy. The source of the energy happened to be in a disco where Dazzler was singing. They engaged in a singing contest and Dazzler wins. This enraged Amora but several of Earth's superhumans happened to be in attendance and came to Dazzler's aid. They later met again when Dazzler spots her in an airport. Amora teleports her to Asgard and challenges her to a duel. At first Amora doesn't take it seriously and then begins to absorb Dazzler's life force after Allison gained the upper hand. Odin soon arrives and demands to know whats going on. Amora claims Dazzler disrespected her so Odin orders another singing contest.Amora goes first and mesmerizes every man in the room. (similar to the abilities of Venus) But then Dazzler takes her turn and Odin admits she has a better voice. He then teleports her back to Earth.

I mean was Odin sitting at a table like Simon Cowell?

Does anyone have scans of this? It sounds freaking classic!

Ah... Cheesy 80's comics were great.  Well, they were terrible, but that's what makes them classic ;)

Sorry, I don't have any pics though.

It took place in Dazzlers #1, #2 and #16.  When I think of the wasted potential of this character. ..

@HeroineAddict:
I agree completely.

Her run during Fall of the Mutants up to the Outback days were some of my favorite memories of her. I loved that team of X-Men.

@Jake Fury:
From the moment she put on that blue costume Dazz was finally getting to shine as a heroine.  Too bad MARVEL kept fumbling the ball on her.

@HeroineAddict:
I really liked her and Alex getting close during the Outback saga. Any woman not named Emma Frost these days takes an immediate backseat among the X-ranks unfortunately.

@Jake Fury:
 I also liked how she and Havok were getting along.     And don't get me started with Frost.  I can't even stand the sight of her anymore.    I'd love for the Outbackers to get back together again.  Tell General 'Clops and his frosted flake of a girlfriend to kiss their collective asses and then form their own team.

@Jake Fury: You should ask pixelized. He is the Dazzler expert around these parts.

I was rereading my Essential Dazzler, and I'm pretty sure Dazzler fought Enchantress in the first issue. The story was something along the lines of that Dazzler and Enchantress both auditioned for the same disco job, and Enchantress got pissed that Dazzler was hired and she wasn't. Or some sh*t like that.
