    Uxas, famously known as Darkseid, is the supreme monarch of the ecumenopolis, Apokolips. Widely regarded as one of the Justice League's worst adversaries, the greatest enemy of New Genesis and one of the biggest threats to the DC Multiverse, he seeks to bend everything to his will and remake the cosmos in his image, while searching for the Anti-Life Equation, an equation which seemingly consists of immense power that has the potential to dominate all life in the DC Multiverse.

    How Was Darkseid Depowered After COIE?

    We all know Darkseid was depowered after COIE, But my question is how was he depowered a specific event or just bad writing?

    I'm pretty sure it's bad writing. I've heard several times that he wasn't changed. 
     
    But an explination for his suckiness after COIE is he started to use avatars (described as "one aspect of his supposedly omnipotent being"). These avatars don't do so well in fights/intellect sometimes (he's had something taken from him by Anarky, who was approximatley fourteen years old at the time), and they've gotten their butt kicked by superman a few times.

    Actually, Pre-Crisis Darkseid used avatars too.
     
    If you ask me, he was powered down because Superman was powered down. A few of Superman's enemies were much more powerful Pre-Crisis, but since he was weakened after the crisis, I'm pretty sure the writers decided to do the same with his enemies as well to challenge him effectively. If enemies like Darkseid and Mongul, both of whom were able to give even PC Superman a good beating, were never weakened, modern Superman would die from a single attack from either of them.
