Each week we find some cool comic book collectibles and open them up to see just how cool they really are outside of the package. This is the week I've been waiting for. It's time to take a look at the New 52 version of Darkseid and a Parademon.
You can see Darkseid is a big dude, just like in the comics. The figure stands at 13" and is a very solid and heavy figure. For the retail price of $89.95, you expect it to be a massive figure.
That is a lot of money but you have to keep in mind the regular figures are $22.95. It might still seem like a lot but when you actually see it, you'll find it hard to resist. I would imagine there won't be as many of these produced as the other figures. Once they sell out, the aftermarket price is bound to rise.
Let's take a closer look at him.

Of course with Darkseid, you expect there to be some Parademons running around. I'm sorry to say that at $22.95, I won't be buying as many Parademons as shown on the back of the Darkseid box. But I did have a couple of the animated version.
Of course with this sort of monkeying around, you know Darkseid isn't going to be too happy.
Prepare for the wraith of Darkseid. Actually, he has a soft spot for some of the Parademons so he'll probably go a little easy on them.
The Parademon itself is pretty cool. It's also tempting to want to get more than one. It's a good and bad thing that they didn't make some with slightly different faces. Then it would have been really hard to resist buying just one.
I love the claws in the hands and feet. With these feet, the Parademon can easily stand pretty much wherever you want to put him.
With all the other Justice League figures that have been released (and featured here), you know what's coming, right?
Sorry. The battle got too ugly. We just didn't feel it was right to show what happened during the fight. But here's what happened next.
You'll notice not all of the Justice League was present. Superman must have been busy doing something. Actually I never bought him because he wasn't available separately until recently. I still have to buy one.
But if you look carefully at that last image above, this may not be the end for the League.
You can get these figures directly from DC at their online store. Darkseid arrived safe and sound in a big sturdy box with lots of padding. The Parademon box had a big tear in it. That'd be a bummer for those collecting and not opening the box. You can also find them at some comic shops. You might even be able to ask them to order some for you.
