Darklings

I really dug the First Born storyline.  That's what really brought me back into the Top Cow comics.  Great story, great writing, great art.  It had it all.  There was a small gap in between this storyline and what followed.  With this one-shot, we see a couple loose ends tied up and some foreshadowing to what's coming up. 

There's three stories here, one by Phil Hester and two by Ron Marz.  We get to see what's left of Jackie's little hideaway when some kids stumble across the remains.  Find out what has been left behind.  We also get a little insight as far as the location of Jackie's place.  Who originially "owned" the land?  He's going to want some words with Jackie.  And finally the third story deals with Magdalena.  She's had to fight "angels" which is a conflict for her.  How will that affect her position in the church?  I don't think this is going to be the last we'll see of her.

A nice wrap up.  The fact that Top Cow got some of their top talent working on this says something to me.  They could have easily just thrown anyone on and marketed it with the First Born name.  They did it justice but not skimping or cutting corners.
