    Can't get enough

I've never read anything in The Dark Tower series of books so far, so I'm reviewing this purely on a comic book stand point. I truly have no idea if it does the books justice or not. I can honestly say however so far I'm blown away. I almost passed on this mini-series all together thinking it was just a gimmick and not much effort would be put into it because it was going to sell no matter what because Stephen King's name is on it.

So far I'm totally engrossed in the story of the young gunslinger Roland Deschain. Although the story centers on him again this issue, we're also introduced to some other characters here, and the whole mythology of this universe is also explored further. All this could have felt overwhelming, but it's kept to a great pace giving us just enough information to keep us totally enthralled in the this fantasy tale.

Lee and Isanove's art is just as important as the dialog in this series. The artwork is simply amazing. While the artwork is beautiful, it truly shines when illustrating the more disturbing characters of the series which would include Martin Broadcloak's chamber and the Crimson King himself.

We also get another back story at the end of the issue written by Robin Furth. This one is the origins of Maerlyn's Rainbow and is as interesting as the main story itself. I hope these continue throughout the mini-series as it's a great way of fleshing out this world filled with gunslingers, wizards and evil. It's also accompanied by a few illustrations by the art team that are just as amazing as the rest of the book.

All around an amazing comic book thus far, with a engrossing story. Any fan of fantasy should love this. Don't let the stigma of past "licensed property" comic books keep you away from this, as they really pulled out all the stops for this series.

Not an Easy Read,But A Satisfying One 0

Starting right where the first issue left off, we see Rowland having a conversation with his Father.  By the end of which Rowland has a purpose and a mission to his life. So he sets out with his friends to gather information and horses for the Affiliation.    This book was a little bit like a big car accident, off putting, but intriguing all the same. There are some very creepy scenes in this issue. It most definitely is designed for us to meet and loathe the bad guys. On that front, I have to ...
