erich's Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #1 - Women Love Him, Men Want To Be Him review

    Venom has seen better days

This book is so weak on so many levels i feel like marvel released it just because spider-man hasn't had a "dark" tile yet.  The story is about the same as any other Venom story.  He kills someone and the eats them (just an arm this time). Norman Osborne has the exact same angry boss roll as in Dark Reign: Hawkeye.  There is a lame new character named the "Redeemer".  All in all, poorly written.

Then...there's the artwork.  I have never been a fan of Chris Bachalo but this is his worst. It's not that the book is poorly drawn, Bachalo is very talented. The problem is the vision.  Sometimes the close-ups are so disorientingly close that it's just a panel of color and shapes.  The people are so caricature-y that i feel like it belongs on the editorial page of the newspaper. I know that's his style but it's irritating!  Trey Parker and Matt Stone have a specific style but they don't put it in major comic book titles! And what's with everybody spitting bubbles when they talk?  There's always bubbles floating around in his artwork!!!

In this four part limited series, venom finds himself in the position of Spider-man, and is really milking it for all he can.       Starting off with D-list villian, General Wolfram robbing a bank, Venom rolls in just in the nick of time to stop him. After bruising up the bad guy, and making out with some hotties, he wisks the money and bad guy away, only to chomp off Wolframs arm. Using the stolen cash to...

Humorous with an Exciting New Cast 0

With the success of Dark Reign, practically all the A and some of the B list heroes are getting there own series or mini-series.  Surprisingly, this one is actually acceptable.       In case you don't know the details, I'll give you the simple background.  Mac Gargan/Scorpion has become Venom, and thanks to Norman Osborn becoming the leader of the super-hero community, Venom is now an Avenger.  Obviously, people take a dim view to having a cannibalistic, psycopathin, greedy, alien like Ven...
