A Very Fitting (and Great) Conclusion
It's another epilogue for "Siege." If you haven't read "Siege" #4 then go read that because this review will have to spoil some of that issue to be effective.
Last chance to stop reading before you get spoiled. Consider yourself fairly warned.
THE GOOD:
- Massive "Siege" fallout. Not only massive, but very well-written fallout. It's so well-written that I find myself wondering if it should've been in the main mini-series and not here. Bendis does a great job with dialogue, pacing, and balance of character spotlight here. I was a bit critical of Bendis in my "Siege" review, but it's because it wasn't his best work. This was a great read.
- Where's the fallout? We get Steve Rogers, Osborn, his Avengers, Victoria Hand, and Fury/Phobos. Really relevant book as we see the transitions begin to The Heroic Age.
- Of course, simply reading would be a horrible thing since I wouldn't get Mike Deodato art. I've gushed on and on about Deodato, but I'll simply say that I'm happy that he'll be on another monthly.
THE BAD:
- Nothing.
OVERALL:
Why would I say nothing was wrong? Honestly, Deodato and Bendis accomplished an epilogue and then some. There's some wonderful character moments, some meaningful events as we transition from Dark Reign, and a really fitting end to "Dark Avengers." It's an issue that really feels like the end of Dark Reign/Siege. If you're an Avengers, Marvel, "Siege," or Bendis fan then I'd recommend picking this up. It's a really great read that satisifies me as a regular reader of "Dark Avengers" and follower of "Siege."
