Same ol' thing. Except now Norman's probably lost it (AGAIN) becuase of certain things I won't spoil. Anyways, people start dissapearing in what is literally the middle of nowhere according to the characters! Also uh.... Moonstone flirting with Bullseye? OMGWTFDAIRYQUEENWITHASIDEOFFRIES!?!?!??!!?!?!?

On the bright side, it actually does look interesting for two different reasons

1- Gargan is failing more than usual, whining like a baby about his job, could this be Bendis setting us up for the symbiote getting tired of him and ditching him? (Or it could be the meds.... but I hope its both!!! Brock FTW!)

2- Mephisto appears. Could he start making references to One More Day? I doubt he would, but I would LOVE to see him playfully taunting Osborn about Spider-man's identity, no, I would PAY to see it, because at this point I'll have to anyways.

So yeah, as usual, AMAZING art by Mike Deodato Jr, who is one of my favorite artists (Besides Adi Granov, JRJR, and Alex Ross)

If you like Dark Avengers, seeing Gargan whine, or build-up to the Goblin's grande return, come read this!
    If not, then ditch this.

Recently in a great interview with Brian Michael Bendis by Blair Butler (Fresh Ink), the author of Daredevil, Secret Invasion, and My life partner Joe Q (ok, that last one was a lie) was quoted, “I’m really pleased and surprised at how successful Dark Reign has been especially Dark Avengers.” With all due respect to Mr. Bendis’ incredible body of work, I gotta say, “Has this guy actually read his work after it comes off the press recently?”

Dark Avengers is literally a rip-off of Warren Ellis’ outstanding run on Thunderbolts. Ellis was Thunderbolts in a way that no other author could channel the dysfunctional attempt of fiends attempting to be law-abiding super heroes. It was morbidly hysterical and captured just how apathetic and uninterested super villains are when their job to do good goes horribly wrong. The in-house fighting was more entertaining than most TV sitcoms. Think the Office meets Oz.

Now, here comes Mr. Bendis’ attempt to channel Warren Ellis and it is a major fail after 10 issues. Since Avengers Dissembled, Bendis never could replicate his style in Avengers that he had going in his crime noir titles or Ultimate Spidey oriented books. To his credit, team books are really hard to write. Few of the very best writers today can do a successful run on a team title. Bendis’ problem has always been unable to figure out a mission statement for all of his Avengers books. For now, New Avengers serves as an excuse to recycle/update/elevate less useful characters like Brother Voodoo to his own title. There’s just no direction and Dark Avengers is another example.

Issue #10 is almost recycled frame by frame of his arc where the team goes to Latveria to tangle with Morgana Le Fay. I don’t want to spoil the surprise nemesis. If it’s actually who I think it is, there is a major fuck up in continuity of character because this guy was so cool in the pages of FF and Secret Wars I and II.

But even his long past due re-appearance can’t elevate this book. How much in house teasing, fighting, and slutting around can you pump out @ $4 and issue without boring your audience. This is a case where I think Mr. Bendis is paying a little too much time with sales and not enough with quality.

Rating: Skip it. The readers deserve more.

Wow man! Bendis keeps his @#$%  of crappy avenger stories hitting us hard. And man those this issue wreeak. Well, Bendis hasn't been doing any mysoginy in his books, I thought he realized that women are actually people not objects, man was I wrong. A prologue of 2 girls with cheating abusive boyfriends that are going to a dinosaur restaurant (What the &%&*) mysterously  dissapear. And Venom, okay Mac Gargan has no balls to be Venom, Eddie Brock is the TRUE Venom, anyway, he feels sad for The Man-Thing that Ares chopped in half. Oh yeah thats right, The Man-Thing has regenerative healing powers, so he's NOT dead! And Venom:"Agh look at the poor thing". What is with the horrible explanation of Victoria Hand giving hm a litlle off, how STUPID!!! Ms.Marvel, (Moonstone), once again Bendis just has to have har as a whore. That is annoying, and its deaming, first she gets it on with Marvel Boy, and now tries to seduce BULLSEYE? If I want to see her as as a strong character, I probably go read Brian Reed's Ms.Marvel, she written a whole lot better. Anyway, if you feel like blowing 4 bucks on a completley wastless book, this the one for you! If you want to see the Dark Avengers writen as a strong team with strong charcterization, staw away from this whole series forever! Here is a link to a way better review than this one for you guys as well.
