Irish-American Matthew Murdock was raised by his father who was a single, over-the-hill boxer in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City. As a child, Matt was struck by a truck that was carrying radioactive materials. Matt was left blind after the accident. Due to the radioactive substances in the truck that struck him, his remaining senses were heightened way beyond the normal human threshold. He is now able to detect the shape and location of objects around him. His agility and balance are heightened as well due to his sensory capacity. Soon after the accident, a mysterious man named Stick becomes his mentor and teaches him to control his new abilities while honing his natural aptitude in acrobatics and martial arts. Stick, also blind, teaches Matt how to form a mental image of the objects around him. Due to this training with Stick, Matt develops a "radar sense" to make up for his sight. After Battlin' Jack's death at the hands of a small-time crook named the Fixer, Matt becomes Daredevil. He stays in Hell's Kitchen and becomes a most fearsome hero on the streets.
A founding member of the X-Men, Dr. Hank McCoy is a mutant possessing animal-like strength and agility. Despite being covered in blue fur and resembling a ferocious beast, Hank possesses an astounding intellect and a superb wit. He is currently a key member of X-Force.
