Daredevil
Character » Daredevil appears in 4764 issues.
As a child, Matt Murdock was blinded by radioactive waste while trying to save an elderly stranger about to get hit by a truck carrying the dangerous material. In turn, his other senses were heightened to superhuman sharpness and he gained a form of "radar sense". By day, he is a successful trial lawyer; but by night, he guards Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil: the Man Without Fear.
New Series Discussion Thread
Matt Murdock has returned to the streets of NYC in this new ongoing by Mark Waid. What did everyone think of the debut issue?
Daredevil deserve a break away from all the tragedy stories he's been surrounded by.So this was a great issue. It was nice to see my favorite hero smiling again, after a decade of tragedy
I agree 100%.
So has this book dropped the "noir" quality of the main title entirely?
Do you mean the art aspect?

Preview art for issue #2:
Paolo Rivera's art really held the issue up for me through some shaky ground.
The series definitely is great if you're just looking to jump into DD, because Matt Murdock himself has taken on a much different character. He's a lot more brash now than I've seen him. Sometimes I felt it worked, other times it didn't. The best thing I can say about it is that it's certainly a different direction and one that is more intriguing than any of the storylines the character has had in recent memory.
And again, Rivera's art is just plain amazing. With him (and hopefully occasionally Marcos Martin), I'll never be not on board with the title.
I really liked it, but I'm kind of missing the "noir" attitude. Still a great issue and I hope it takes off from here. Mark Waid is my favorite writer and DD is my favorite Marvel hero.
I wonder what Cap is doing in the Kitchen?
I'm looking for Waid to really define what the modern Daredevil is capable of.Define him in what way?
@Vance Astro said:There are alot of things attached to Daredevil that hasn't been touched on in years. What is he capable of physically (speed, strength etc.),How does he approach combat? Is he still a user of Ninjutsu with a mixture of Judo,Armed Combat & Boxing like Frank Miller set up or did Bendis change that with Daredevil: Ninja and the whole "I don't like Ninjas" crap.In Shadowland when Shang Chi says that Daredevil is the master of Kung-Fu, Iron Fist described his fighting style but said nothing about Ninjutsu. What about Daredevil's abilities like the ability to speak to people telepathically which he showed in Vol.1 and also his use of chi for healing as also touched on in Miller's Run? Where does Daredevil stand among skilled fighters in the Marvel Universe? Daredevil doesn't fight alot of skilled characters between Bendis & Brubakers run and what he did in Diggle's doesn't count because he was possessed by the Beast of the Hand.I'm looking for Waid to really define what the modern Daredevil is capable of.Define him in what way?
What did you think of his encounter with Steve Rogers?
@Vance Astro: What did you think of his encounter with Steve Rogers?I for one thought it was very interesting

@Vance Astro: What did you think of his encounter with Steve Rogers?I personally thought it should have been the one fight between the two that settled who was better (although I know Cap is better). The last 4 fights they have, were so poorly written it was ridiculous.I mean in one instance not only did DD beat Cap but all the other Avengers including Hercules.

@Vance Astro said:Still poorly written my friend :P DD taking on Herc is like... Black Panther taking on Silver Surfer, and that would never happen lol, its just too much difference between humans and those Superman level guys. ...OH WAIT...@Jake Fury said:DD is the man@Vance Astro: What did you think of his encounter with Steve Rogers?I personally thought it should have been the one fight between the two that settled who was better (although I know Cap is better). The last 4 fights they have, were so poorly written it was ridiculous.I mean in one instance not only did DD beat Cap but all the other Avengers including Hercules.
*Troll Face* :P
The Captain America/Daredevil encounter was a little random, but it was cool while it lasted.
I hope he interacts more with other heroes in the book. And who else thinks DD vs Klaw is an excellent match up??
