Jock's Cover to Daredevil: Reborn #1

All great things must come to an end- as is the case with Daredevil- or is it? A couple of weeks ago Marvel teased that Daredevil- and his book- would be coming to an end. Initially, I really didn't believe them. I mean, you know how Marvel is! You know they like to tease. But looking at the cover image posted by artist JOCK on his twitter page earlier today to DAREDEVIL: REBORN #1, the new series that was announced this past weekend during the Fan Expo in Toronto, who knows if we will be seeing Matt Murdock as DD after SHADOWLAND? Then again, covers are meant to make us speculate, right?

The cover speaks volumes the way that it outline's Daredevil, and looks a lot like a chalk outline in a homicide scene. Daredevil's "chalk outline" is sprawled throughout what I presume to be Hells Kitchen, New York City. The broken night sticks near his ankles are pretty telling too; other than the fact that this will probably be a pretty explosive story, I have a funny feeling we won't be seeing a lot of Matt Murdock anymore.

What do you guys think of JOCK's gorgeous cover to DAREDEVIL: REBORN #1?

=^/ Meh, 'nother re-start....even tho DD only had one in his long history, this is still to much.

We all know Marvel or DC won't get rid of someone like DD/Matt Murdock, so just go with it.

I do like the city scape tho....

I do hope its Matt still as DD.. I am really getting tired of every Hero's main Alter Ego getting replaced I was fine with Cap and Batman for now but DD please keep him as Matt Murdock!!!

Maybe Matt "Dies" at the end of shadowland and now in this issue they bring him back =p

Cool cover. I'm anxious to hear more. I've been reading Daredevil for years. If Shadowland ends on an interesting note I'm sure I'll pick this up.

My guess is at the end of Shadowland Matt comes to his senses and feels so ashamed and disgusted with his action he gives up being daredevil or maybe even fakes his death, and one of the suggeted heroes takes up the mantle for about few years or so and then Matt comes back

Well seeing as the chalk outline isnt fully done, Matt won die but would have been on the verge of it in SL and he has a new lease on life

Oh geez. Matt Murdock is one of my favorite characters. I hope they wouldn't kill him off, but at least I could take solace in a couple of things.
1) His death would likely mean something big, and big change is never not a good thing (for the most part).
2) This is comics and he'd likely be back relatively quickly.
I actually would like to see another person try to take up the DD mantle, albeit it would kinda defeat the purpose as DD is a super-powered human, and nobody has powers similar to him.

It's an interesting idea. I'm actually really diggin Shadowland as an event. It's not too big for its own good, and is pretty logical...until Ghost Rider randomly pops up, but...statistically speaking, some hero was going to go crazy and do something like this. It happens.

I was thinking that Elektra could step in as the new Daredevil just because it gives her something to do. Would be interesting especially with her connection to the Hand. Might make for a good costume change too at least for a short while.

I actually like this Idea!!! As much as I do not like Shadowland right now and maybe getting Rid of Matt really Elektra seems like the reasonable choice to take over the mantle of DD kind of do a reverse ordeal where Matt is dead and Elektra is alive

Elektra deserves her own lane at this point.Taking DD's mantle would just be living in his shadow.

I agree and Disagree with this Point here.. Yes In a way I do want to see Elektra taking her own lane at this point but really what does she have coming forward to her in all honesty??? I really think that having Elektra as DD for awhile would be the smart thing if they decide to kill Matt for awhile (Even though I do not want this to Happen) because really besides Danny Rand knows Matt inside out as well too a Legacy if Matt were to be out of commission Yes Danny would be the first choice but Danny already done this so Elektra would be the next best choice to handle to Daredevil mantle.. Like I said Matt is DareDevil and no one can replace him..But I think it would be Interesting to see Elektra as DD

My question is this...why does there need to be a Daredevil without Matt? I can understand the other times when people wore his costume because they were trying to prove Matt and DD were two different characters but why can't Elektra defend Hell's Kitchen as Elektra?

This question I agree with Why does there need to be a DD without Matt I agree with you 100% on that as most fans do.. I am just saying a What If it does happen??? I say Elektra should take the mantle I have my reasons why and I liked the suggestion bingbangboom said but You have your Opinion on this as do I.. like I said I agree with you 100% once again Matt should be Daredevil and no one else.. It sucks that the only book in Marvel that has been consistently good from beginning to present is now in question.We have no idea if DD is going to die or not and knowing Marvel's track record i'm starting to think either nothing at all will happen to DD (a cop out after all this build up) or the worst possible thing we can imagine will happen.

My guess is the Shroud will take over as the next Man Without Fear. Two reasons:

1. Shroud is blind

2. Shroud knows martial arts

Matt won't be dead. He'll just not be DD for a while. C'mon kill matt? Like that happens in comic books. lol.

I was thinking female Daredevil as well. Elektra would be a great choice but I wouldn't mind seeing a few other options. Vance Astro does have a point though: why should Elektra live in Matts shadow? She's her own character who IMO is more frighting than Matt Murdock...no offense

That's good. And like Vance said as well, I'd prefer is Elektra defended Hell's Kitchen as Elektra. Even better still, I'd rather Matt not die, but just "die" from being a hero, like after Shadowland. What if he kept up being this overlord? What if he stays as ruler of the Hand for the next year or so. Let him stay a "bad guy," and have Elektra be the "hero." One of the original solicits for Shadowland was somethin' like "birth of the greatest villain." I say stay true to that. At least for longer than just this one event.

I agree with Vance and Disagree on the Elektra as DD.. Ordeal I would not mind Elektra defending Hell's Kitchen as herself either but It would be Interesting to see her take up the DD mantle if they do decide to "Kill" Matt.. Really she is part of The DD Legacy and Heir if you really think about it as both were trained by Stick himself so being DD would be No problem for her.. I really do not Like Matt as a Villain and the Idea of Matt not being DD is Blasphemy but I think if they are gonna Kill Matt Elektra is the best choice to take the Mantle of DD

What? No Matt Murdock? What the heck? Someone is going to take his mantle? How else this person is going to fight if he doesn't have radar sense? Maybe, it's not necessary. But still, Matt Murdock should be DD. That's what he is, his powers and acrobatic abilities. Marvel, what are you thinking? Bring Matt back. Ok, maybe he dies and then he will come back since the Hand has the ability to bring people back to life.

As a child, Matt Murdock was blinded by radioactive waste while saving a stranger. In turn his other senses were heightened to superhuman sharpness, and he gained a form of "radar sense". By day he is a successful trial lawyer, but by night he guards Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil.
