Character » Daredevil appears in 4764 issues.

As a child, Matt Murdock was blinded by radioactive waste while trying to save an elderly stranger about to get hit by a truck carrying the dangerous material. #1 Frank Miller - He's the Godfather, he got the ball rolling and changed DD forever.

#2 Brian Michael Bendis - Terrific run on all accounts with amazing high points.

#3 Mark Waid - Absolutely no reason to hate this run like some people do, fantastic writing and Waid actually presents depression in a realistic way while at the same time explaining why sometimes Matt is happy go lucky (Lee) and why sometimes he is dark and gritty (Miller). He puts on a facade on the outside while dealing with his own depression on the inside. This is extremely realistic and I am surprised it took this long to connect the pieces. While I don't personally suffer from depression myself, I have a friend that does and it most definitely reigns true.

#4 Ed Brubaker - Brubaker ran with the threads that Bendis was sewing, which not many writers do. Bendis is famous for setting up major things for other creators to play with but this is truley the best example of someone taking him up on his offer.

#5 Jeph Loeb - Daredevil Yellow was great and was an awesome origin renewal.
