The reason for that teaser (with Wolverine putting his claws through the mask, also one with him putting his claws through Bullseye's mask as shown below) are all just homages to iconic DD covers of the past. It is no more likely that Wolverine is going to kill him (since there are DD stories solicited well past Shadowland I'd say it's definitely not going to happen) then it is that the Punisher is going to kill Spider-Man. Not that you're saying that's going to happen, you just referring to the colour and you're right. But Some people are reading more into it than just that.
As for the DD's new look during Shadowland, I think it fits quite well with his being leader of the Hand, but not as a permanent change.

I actually don't mind it. Buuuuut, for the life of me, even to this day, why do they have a need to outline underwear on the outside, still????? Come on, the forties and sixties is over people in Marvel and DC!!
That's the only part that still never looks right for me and still silly. I don't believe, as an artist, you still have to define the fact that they were underwear on the outside, still lol They could've made it look like straight leather pants.
