When Fox goes forth and reboots Daredevil, should it be rated R?

I really think they should consider it. Daredevil isn't your "I'm gonna put on my tights and beat up the bad guy in broad daylight" kind of superhero. He fights rapists, drug addicts, and gangs on a daily basis in one of the roughest areas of New York City. His girlfriend was even a heroine addict who was a full-time porn star at one point. Daredevil is a much darker, grittier hero with a more mature fan base, so it would only make sense to make it an R rated film.

    What is your take, Viners?

I'm not so sure. DD isn't really a rated R kind of comic, so I don't think the movie needs to be either. A lot of the dark subject matter you mentioned is dealt with in mainstream media all the time (everything you listed has been done on regular TV in shows like CSI for instance). You can deal with serious crimes without the need to be so graphic in your depiction of them as to warrant an R rating.

I don't think it should, but I think they should consider using more mature plot with those elements. It should definitely be more mature than the first DD movie.

Depending on who the character is, it can only be done poorly without an R rating. But I think Daredevil could probably pull off a 14A rating and still be good. Something like Spawn or Deadpool, for example, simply wouldn't capture the essence of the characters in anything bellow R.

If the Dark Knight could be PG-13, there is absolutely no need for Daredevil to be rated R.

That's actually a pretty good way of thinking about it.

Yeah, but Daredevil deals with alot more prostitution and gang stuff than Batman. Batman may be very gang-oriented, but it's actually alot less than most people think.

it should but it wont, if its R they wont make money, and that whats important to them money, not making a decent movie.
