    Prelude To Shadowland

    The Story:
Daredevil makes Norman Osborn's "List" and Bullsye is sent after Daredevil. In his attempt to kill Daredevil he tricks him to following him to a building which he blew up killing 107 innocent people. Daredevil feels responsible and vows to take matters into his own hands by using The Hand as a means to take back control of Hells Kitchen. The Hand demands Daredevil to make a sacrifice to prove his loyalty and they choose Master Izo as the victim. Daredevil takes White Tiger to Japan to meet with other leaders of The Hand. Not everyone is happy about Daredevil being their leader and mayhem follows resulting in betrayal and bloodshed.

    My Thoughts:
Andy Diggle takes over the writing and does a phenomenal job. This was such a brilliantly crafted and compelling story. This series keeps getting better every issue and the same can be said for this volume. Diggle continues to take Matt Murdock's character down a road he's never been before. I love how he's making such huge decisions that may seem out of his character giving you the sense that he may be consumed by darkness. Personally, I'd like to think Daredevil has a master plan for The Hand rather than being corrupted by them and ultimately turning into a villain. We find out The Hand are using him but not everything is clear at this point. What I'm enjoying is that everybody is playing their own angle. Even Kingpin's role in this is interesting now that he's teamed up with Lady Bullseye.

There's a lot of ninja action that was just awesome. The panels are laid out so nice and the artist's capture every emotion so poetically. The dialogue was extremely well written as well. Everything in this book flowed so naturally, nothing in it seemed forced at all. I love the direction this series is heading and continuously find myself looking forward to what happens next.

Finally the Daredevil series gets better art to accompany the awesome stories being told. For the first issue (Dark Reign: The List) the art was by Billy Tan who did a hell of a job. The way be drew Daredevil was awesome. For the main issues of the story the art was by Robert De La Torre and Marco Checchetto who do a fine job as well. I was so excited to finally be able to look at more exciting artwork while reading this series. This is probably some of the best Daredevil artwork I have ever seen.

This was definitely a volume that had huge effects. We find out that Daredevil is building Shadowland and although it isn't clear what that means, we can only assume it's going to be awesome. This series is consistently delivering amazing storytelling with a great balance of action and drama. I would highly recommend not only this volume but this entire series for those who haven't read it yet.
