Thinking himself to be unworthy of the role of a hero, Matt Murdock leaves his past behind and begins to rethink his life. Having done so much harm in Shadowland Matt Murdock has put away the Daredevil mantle and is trying to forsake his entire career. But while in Mexico, Matt Murdock sees injustice and corruption and has to do the noble thing. Now, pinned against the corrupted police force and a truck load of weapons, Matt Murdock will have to fight his way out if he wants to keep his life! Written by Andy Diggle and artwork by Davie Gianfelice.
The Good
Having Matt take time away from his Daredevil persona is a good thing for right now. Having been running Shadowland then loosing his power for the soul of New York, Matt Murdock has been busy in the last year. I have enjoyed the Reborn story arc and it seems to be getting a really good amount of information before the next Daredevil story. Andy's writing for Daredevil really tries to capture the stress and weight that Daredevil has been caring for many years. From loosing friends and loved ones, Daredevil has been pushed to many unexpected turns at life. The story was okay, it could be better, however I do like the fact that Daredevil is mentoring a blind kid. Sort of like how Daredevil was mentored as a kid. The artwork is nice, the colors really stand out on Davie's art.
The Bad
It seems that Matt trying to bury his Daredevil persona has been done before. In the 90's, Daredevil faked Matt Murdock's death to make himself fully become the Man Without Fear! However, through a series of events, Daredevil came back to his senses. So the reborn story arc is sort of like that, but the entire plot of the story seems obvious. Matt Murdock will eventually become Daredevil once again.
The Verdict
Reborn is a good story arc to be getting ready for the next events of Daredevil. The ending makes the entire story seem more exciting and overall this is a 4 out of 5.
