Overview

The second part of the hard-hitting new arc "To the Devil, His Due" is here, and Brubaker and Lark are just getting warmed up! As Daredevil fights to find the source of new and violent trouble in Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock struggles to piece his life back together. But when a woman from his past enters the picture, it could all go flying off the rails.

Matt and Becky talk with the hospital administrater about Melvin. Now that another inmate and a guard are killed, things aren't looking too good for him. Murdock insists that he wasn't trying to escape. He says Melvin isn't calculating enough to think of that. Melvin has never denied killing people as Gladiator. There's no reason for him to lie now about killing. The suit figures he's just trying to scam his way into staying at the hospital because it would be easier to escape than going back to Rykers. Melvin is scheduled to remain sedated until he can be transported back. Becky is outraged because he never got his evaluation. Matt says the hospital will get a lawsuit unless they schedule an evaluation for tomorrow morning at Bellevue. He also says that he better not be doped up. When Matt and Becky get in the elevator, she says she's not sure what's going on. Matt says he did it, that's what. The only other possibility is that Melvin's formed a an even more dangerous personality disorder. Becky asks, what if he's being set up.

Matt goes out on patrol as Daredevil, trying to get Becky's question out of his mind. The next day, Melvin is evaluated. He stammers around the questions. He hesitates when asked if it's possible he killed the men. The doctor believes that he's guilty from her interview and from going over his files. They offer to make a deal with Melvin, spending the rest of his sentence in solitary and for the four homicides, he'd probably get fifteen years. Matt says they'll talk to their client and get back to him. Becky isn't happy with that.

At Dr. Lyman Johnstone's psychiatric care office, Milla is sitting in the waiting room for her session. A man comes in and asks if she's been seeing Dr. Johnstone long. He then apologizes saying it's none of his business. He says he must have mixed up the time for his appointment. Now he's going to miss dinner and his wife will be upset. She doesn't know he's going to therapy. Milla asks if he thinks she won't understand. The man says he's probably underestimating her. Later when Milla gets home, she finds dinner in the oven but Matt is not there, again.

He follows the transport truck that is taking Melvin. He notices that it's being followed. At first he thinks it's an escort but then they pull up to the truck and shoot the driver. The truck crashes and flips. Daredevil counts five men, all armed. They begin shooting as he starts to take them out. Inside, Melvin says "It's happening...but not like they promised...they lie...they always lie..." One of the men places an exlposive device on the door of the truck which messes Daredevil's senses. They must have been expecting him. Melvin walks out calling them liars. He snaps one of the men's neck and smashes another in the face. Daredevil tries to calm him down. Melvin calls him a liar too saying he knows he hates him. He smacks Daredevil around and makes his escape.

Matt, a bloody mess from the fight, arrives at their office. He tells Foggy what happened and that he was there "all morning" if anyone asks. As he cleans up in the bathroom, a woman walks in. She says her name is Lily Lucca. Matt comes out asking what the hell she's doing there. He tells her to get out. She says that she's in trouble and needs his help.

Slow build... 0

It's part 2 of the "To The Devil, His Due" storyline and I have two questions. 1) How many times has the DD series or storylines featuring DD have used "To The Devil, His Due" as a title and 2) How many purses has Daredevil saved in his career. I think Comic Vine should have a page that tallies how many purses Horn Head has saved in this career. Total for this issue: 1.Anyway, about the book, it seems as if this storyline is crawling along but not in a bad way. The tension is slowly being ra...
