Daredevil May Be Dubstep On Someone's Planet, But He's Straight Up Masterful Jazz To Me
If I ever want a one-and-done story I turn to two writers: Paul Dini and Mark Waid. This is how superhero comics should be done (everyone else is saying it, so I guess I will too), with popcorn story ideas blending with soap opera drama.
I called Daredevil jazz in the title because I just can't imagine all of these issues being planned out months ahead of time. Maybe they are, but the wonderful thing is it doesn't feel that way. Waid makes me feel like if I love Daredevil enough I can wake up one morning and script a great tale of high adventure and acrobatic antics. But no, I'm a mortal man shunned off of mount great-comics-writing. Also mentioned in the title (this is as spoilerish as I get) dubstep is involved, first time I laughed aloud at a comic, look it up.
Samnee returns to Daredevil with always great work. There isn't anything... I guess "experimental" in his work other than the radar sense is still radaring but it's still good work. There is no dip in quality from anyone on board, it's just a good issue with another good last page that made be do an almost audible "Awwww, poor Matt." Then I remembered that Matt gets one of the best creative teams in the business and I thought "Screw Matt, I want a great creative team on my life."
Daredevil #30 is my pick of the week
