The lost oasis of Zerzura, in the Great Sands Sea, was fabled in ancient Arab books and considered a place haunted by the djinns, the demons of the desert. For decades European explorers – such as the members of the Zerzura Club and the Desert Patrol: Major Bagnold, Count Almasy, and Prince Kemal El Din – went looking for the oasis to no avail.
