Tandy Brown should have had the best life could offer. She came from a wealthy family. Unfortunately her mother was too preoccupied with her social events to give any attention to her daughter. Feeling unloved and neglected, Tandy decided to runaway from home.

At the New York City bus terminal, she met another runaway, a young African-American teen named Tyrone Johnson. Despite their different background, the two soon became close friends.

Having no place to stay, the two were given a place by some men working for an evil chemist named Simon Marshall. Marshall worked for the Maggia, a local crime family. He was developing a new addictive drug and tested his work on captured teenage runaways.

The drug had killed the other test subjects but had a different affect on Tyrone and Tandy. The drug had activated both their latent mutant abilities. Defeating Marshall, the two became a crime-fighting duo determined to save kids and teenagers from the evils of the streets.

Powers

As Dagger, Tandy has the abilities to strike down criminals with "daggers" of "light." These daggers consist of psionic energy that deprive its victims of some life energy. They can render victims unconscious or paralyze them for a brief period of time. They also have the ability to fry a person's nervous system and cause a severe heart attack. This is how she almost defeated Silvermane before his brain was transported into an android body. The daggers can also cleanse people of drugs or poison in their system.

His mental control would be psionically broken by the telepathic ninja, Psylocke.
