Hastily Produced Sword and Sorcery Tale
The second issue of Dagar the Invincible is nothing to write home about. Dagar, still searching for Scorpio, comes to a town where he is hired by a woman to save her brother, Lupoff, "from himself". Dagar follows the man and saves him from committing suicide, only to see him turn into a werewolf. Upon the sister's arrival the werewolf flees and Dagar and the sister, Lora-Lei, find Lupoff back in human form the next day. He reveals that Scorpio is responsible for the werewolf curse, and agrees to take Dagar to the place where Scorpio performed the ritual. There the two encounter one of Scorpio's former minions, Danfroth, who drugs them and tries to feed them to Scorpio's pet dinosaur.
Writer Don Glut was always fond of dinosaurs, so it's no surprise that Dagar is up against one in only the second issue. The trouble is that everything in this issue seems hastily put together, from the artwork (a pile of gold coins looks like a handful of feathers) to the contrived dialogue and predictable plot. It's not a horrendous outing, but given the amount of sword and sorcery tales of the time, it certainly falls below the mean.
