Doubtful. Since his head doesn't exactly hold the energy, no. Everything power related should technically shut down meaning his connection to his universe of energy should be cut off and he is just a dead guy.

What should happen and what will happen very seldom meet in modern Marvel.

How exactly do we know that his brain is involved in keeping the portal active?

ummm does it make sence that scott would steal emma's phoenix power???? i mean emma had more experience with the power, right?

anyways emma said that scott left her to die in the hands of the humans, lucky she got out at all, unlike jean who would probably have died.
