Is Cyclops immune to his own blasts?

#1 Posted by elevatorparty (103 posts) - - Show Bio

If Cyclops accidentally looked at his hand without his visor, would it hurt him? If it is reflected back at him, does it hurt him?
If he was immune to it, is there any way this could be used to his advantage? (example if he was in a room full of mirrors could he unleash all his power without worrying about himself getting hit)

Yes, he's immune. Same rules apply for Havok, and vice-versa.
It comes from his aura of overwhelming awesomeness.

At the very least we know his eye lids are immune ( he can stop the blasts without a visor by closing his eyes).

Yes he is immune. He is not immune to the devastating effects caused by them though. Such as blasting a boulder to pieces. The chunks will still harm or kill him. His own body does the same thing to his blasts that ruby quartz does. He also has a high resistance to the force generated by them. Which explains why he does not force his head from his own shoulders when he punches through a mountain.

does redirection count? not just simply knock the blast back at him . what if he shoots at a mutant with portal powers
and the mutant places a portal to protect himself from the attack and a second one behind him? will the blast harm cyke then?
what about people like mimic or synch (i know he is dead) could they hurt cyclops by copying his power? will they be immune as well?

I can't remember correctly(and don't have the comic on me) but during Deadly Genesis Vulcan shot Scott's optic beam back at him and he seemed injured. I'm not sure if he hit him dead on or blew up the ground beneath him.

the force of the blast may harm him by knocking him back but i dont think his optic power can harm him. eg the force it would take to knock theblob down would hurt him prob send him flying a few but he can close his eyes and stop them with his hand. there is a pic of him on his knees without his eye wear trying to stop the blats with his hands and eyes
