She needs someone to massage her shoulders and feet and Banshee is still dead so... speaking of fictional characters though, I wouldn't be surprised if Emma and Cyclops split in the future, or stayed together there are pros and cons to either. Grant Morrison was the one to put them together and if he stayed on X-Men he probably would have broke them up. So Emma and Scotts future depends on the big name writers and or X-Men editors and their vision for the X-Books. For a while there Cyclops was the guy who made the tough decisions (but was always right of course) so morally grey in the narrative but as shiny white from the creative story angle, that is... until he ran into red white and blue and AVX which still colored him in the narrative as a shade of grey, a dark shade but creatively they made him Civil War Iron Man 2.0 as in a great and fair alternative to Captain America's ideas and motivations! I really really got that from the writers - definitely no need to project or take an apologist stance based on how I imagine the character should be. How is this relevant to Emma? Well its a test of her cheerleader skills. She ain't got no alibi.  
 
Does Marvel want Emma the pretentious intellectual, elitist ego that know she has to impart her ethics and wisdom to all the poor deluded lost children and man babies out there who happens to share a bed with the Cyclops or not share a bed. Or does Marvel want Emma the cheerleader, the mafia wife who wears white lingerie and is best characterized when making insulting and witty remarks to anyone who attacks Cyclops integrity because she loves him and she can see his soul and mind and its just like yours dear reader and its beeeeuuutttiiifffulll and so so special and you are so under recognized and under appreciated, you might not be funny like Iceman (who isn't really funny) or rich like Angel, or intelligent like Beast (that hypocrite!) but you make the hard decisions and you try and something something... Naturally its not all about Emma, is also contingent on whether Marvel wants "Morrison Cyclops" or "Fraction Cyclops". I'm wishing for more Morrison styled Cyclops in the future with non Cheerleader mode Emma myself - if they are still together. Or at least until Banshee returns.

Bendis' team consists of Cyclops and the remnants of his Extinction Team: Magneto, Magik and Emma Frost. While Bendis states the romance between Cyclops and Emma is finished, readers will get to see the fallout in the pages of "Uncanny."

@acer51: I agree completely. Emma is a placeholder at best and a means of Scott not committing necrophilia at worst. Scott and Jean will eventually happen again much to the chagrin of those who care for The White Queen. From beyond the fourth wall Emma and Scott always struck me as a means of readers to vicariously nail a porn star. As much as Austen and others displayed them boning I'm surprised he had time to workout, train, study or just to be a leader. Honestly when a character advertises that many sexual escapades it becomes whimsical and vapid. Sure if we saw them ever once in a blue, cool. But...no. Scott wearing her legs like a necklace, every time I turn around. I mean how can I take him seriously as a leader of a near extinct subspecies of human when he owns tear away spandex for efficiency with our good ole white clad femdom?

Some might be offended but Emma is certainly (tragic) villianess, not a heroine. She was a whimsical addition to the cast of Generation X by Scott Lobdell and that was certainly not his first offense again the universe of "X". Sometimes I think it flew under the radar based solely on the fact that Sabretooth was "rehabilitating" at the time, which lead to the damaging of Psylocke's character...sorry, digressing on Lobdell. The only "X" writer I actually like as much as Morrison and Austen...lol. More like an unholy trinity...

So on to love. Scott loved Maddie too and how did that turn out? Oh yeah, she became a demon queen and tried to murder their child AFTER she gave Christopher over to Sinister to experiment on. What about Lee Forester? She ended up with Maggie-neeto, that was terrible. Hell all his relationships except Jean were terrible (and I mean terrible) failures.

@chasereis: Yeah, I mean even today Cyclops yearns for the return of Jean, and maybe he does care about Emma on some level, but clearly not, because I don't think that Cyclops would have ever betrayed Jean Grey like he did in AvX even under the influence of the Phoenix.

@god_spawn: With much respect, but if you refer to Morrison's forced catharsis in New X-Men based on that vapid "the twelve" storyline and his narrow perception of what he wanted to put Scott through to kill Jean to one up Claremont it is about office politics and not about the story. Hell who really knows what contiuity that they are supposedly following anyway. The 2000's have not been kind to marvel at all, they tried everything to keep sales up but now they have a giant messy elephant in the room they are either too lazy or too scared to remove or reboot out of existence. Most every writer since Morrison wrote her as a rebound girl anyway. Inside the fourth wall, were I Emma I would not have expected much as I damaged a good relationship selfishly and to be honest when a relationship begins like that it is almost predestined to failure. I've known four couples (in real life) where this has occurred three ended VERY badly. (lets leave it at that)

@acer51: See him taking her Phoenix Powers is constantly taken out of context in my opinion. In the AvX tie in, Uncanny X-men 18, while the Avengers and X-men were attacking them on the physical plane, Emma and Scott were talking telepathically. During this conversation Emma admits to feeding him the "thought" of human blood, having a mental affair with Namor while he destroyed Wakanda and continually told Scott they should unleash there full power and destroy the "ingrates" to which Scott attested. The final time she does this Scott says "we can't go on like this" and " I'll take it from here". Then he attacks her in the physical plane robbing her of her portion of the Phoenix Force. I think he did this to save everyone and ultimately thought he would be more responsible with it. Clearly he was wrong and it was too much for him to handle. I don't think he betrayed her, I believe he prevented the woman he loved from committing an atrocity. He would have done the same thing for Jean. I just wish this exchange was shown in the actual AvX issue rather than the tie in. It's paramount in understanding why he did it. Anyone who just read the main series gets the impression that he just choked her out for the heck of it.

Yeah it really should have been shown in AVX itself but then so much was missed out in general.

I think, at this point its more than clear that she does love him. She's only being smart about it.

She knows she has to be by his side so he doesn't do something incredibly stupid (which he's known to do sometimes), but she also knows that of all of those affected by the Phoenix, Scott got the worst of it. By becoming the Dark Phoenix, he was broken in so many ways, that even Emma might not believe she can fix. So, she stays close, and doesn't abandom him, which is more than I can say for Storm and Beast.

Both Ororo and Henry have been riding the high moral train, like they own it. When they both have their share of skeletons that would drown mutantkind in it.

Emma knows Scott isn't the bad guy everybody thinks he is. And for that she gets my respect. Has for those that should have been there for Scott and now point their fingers at him, sweet, sweet justice, would be to see Scott holding the entire world fate on his hands and see him, do what none did before... Unite the world and bring peace to humans and mutants, even if it were at the cost of his life. So that in the end when people started showing up at his funeral, Emma could give them the finger and tell them to f#$k off, because they were no longer welcome.

Emma loved scott more than he lover her,that's the truth.They could've their own & beautiful phoenix saga in AvX.But...........
