If he wasn't an X-Men could he be a Avenger? Could he lead them?
Cyclops
Character » Cyclops appears in 11232 issues.
The first X-Man, Scott Summers possesses the mutant ability to fire powerful concussive blasts through his eyes that act as a portal to another dimension full of the force that makes up his optic blast. He is visually distinctive for the ruby quartz visor he wears to control his devastating power. A born leader, Cyclops succeeded his mentor Professor X to command the X-Men.
Could Cyclops be a Avenger?
Yes, I mean he really could but that would really take him away from the X-Men. I'd say they would have to do something drastic in order to do that. Maybe if he wasn't a mutant anymore or his powers changed. Maybe if he was forced out due to a mistake and the Avengers took him back as a form of redemption.
No. It would mean that he wasn't a leader any more... and what's the point in Cyclops if he's not bossing everyone else around & putting other people's lives in danger?
" No. It would mean that he wasn't a leader any more... and what's the point in Cyclops if he's not bossing everyone else around & putting other people's lives in danger? "True I mean could you imagine what might happen to his psyche if he was forced to follow an honest to god good leader?
He would have to toughen up first, because the first time he looked at Sharon Carter to wrong way (after all the guy has a wondering eye for the ladies) Cap would beat his ass.

" LOL good point has he ever had to follow a real leader? "I seem to recall an avengers/x-men crossover from a few years back where they followed Steve Roger's lead. As I remember, of course Cyclops was the whinny looser he always is in that story. Real heroes like Cap, Thor and Spiderman did most of the work.

If you going to start putting X-men on the Avengers there are people that fit much better than Cyclops.
I don't him being able to follow the orders of someone else.

Cyclops is the definitive X-Man. X-teams without Cyclops as leader (or overseer) are always terrible. No Cyclops, no X-Men. You don't put him on the Avengers. It just doesn't work.
Absolutely not. He's a natural born leader and he's arrogant, so he would try to lead the Avengers as he does with the X-Men, but Avengers aren't his family as the X-Men are and they wouldn't follow his order without asking explanations or contesting his decisions and Cyke couldn't tollerate all this "lack of respect". Avengers are a group of strong people whit strong personality and their strenght is cooperation not to blindly follow the orders of a leader, even if cool as Scott is. Cap is the leader of the avengers in the battlefield but he doesn't take decisions for the whole team on his own like Cyclops do. X-Men are a family lead by a singol person, like in a monarchy, avengers are a democracy.
BTW this is one of my first posts, I'm a new user and I come frome Italy (sorry for the possible mistakes)
P.S. this doesn't mean I don't like the x-men, I do.
P.P.S. I really like the site
"During Onslaught guess who Cap and the Avengers were taking orders from? That's right, Cyclops. Cap was taking his marching orders from Cyclops and he liked it. "One would hope during a mutant based story arc that someone from the XMen took charge.
The Problem here is if you put him and Iron man in the same room the place would explode from sheer douche baggery
I now change my stance.
He'd make for a great Avenger. They might actually appreciate the sacrifices he's made, unlike the X-Men, who act like a bunch of sanctimonious twelve year olds with their eyes shut and their fingers in their ears.
It might be beneficial to him for a short time, getting away from the burden of leadership and finally taking some well due chill pills.
Maybe. I'd rather see him operate as a solo hero though.I'd rather see him hit by a bus. Now Iceman that would be a good fit
Say what you will, but I'm loving Cyke atm. And Iceman needs more exposure altogether.@Gambit1024 said:

@fbdarkangel: that was hilarious and it should be used to replace the facepalm because it is that epic.try this one...
