Is This What War Will Be Like in the Future?

In the year 2054, a private security firm is approved by the U.N. to be outsourced for military missions. What will this mean for the main character that gets a job with the firm?

    The Good

The idea that private could be involved in conflicts in other countries is a scary thought. In this future world, it's taken to another level. Each soldier is equipped with a built in camera on their helmut. Viewers back home can watch the events as they occur. Soldiers soon become media celebrities.

The main character seems like a typical young, former athlete and newly married guy just looking for a job. The economy is in a bad place so he takes a job with the security firm. As the story unfolds, you get a feeling that something bad could happen to this guy. I'm not just talking about being injured in a battle but more of a possible corruption as those in charge see the potential in him.

The story and art do a great job in creating this new world. Often, sci-fi/future stories have a major artificial feel to them. If you're familiar with Matz and Luc Jacamon from The Killer, you know what to expect. My complaint with these types of comics is there seems to be too much color but that isn't the case here. The visuals and art style are a pleasure to look at.

    The Bad

[Possible] evil corporate in charge of fighting wars. It almost feels cliché. The art and presentation are compelling here but with so many comics that hit the shelves each week, the second issue will really determine if I will commit to this full eight issue series.

    The Verdict

Why not try something different? Matz and Jacamon have been killing it with their last series, The Killer. It's not everyday you can read a comic without decades of continuity to try to catch up on. We get an intriguing story set in a future that could become a reality someday. The writing, art and colors are sweet and you'll want to know what fate is in store for the lead character.
