Curse of the Mutants
The Heroic Age reaches the X-Men in the first storyline of the new X-Men series. Vampires from around the globe descend on San Francisco, seeking to add the mutant race to their ranks.
Curse of the mutants : are the writers high...
Vampires in 2010, yes. The vampire fad is big right now, as is the zombie which all houses nommed down on in excess.
If dinosaur movies were booming right now, like say a Jurassic Park revival, see dino-X-men, see Savage land Saga, ect.
Off base no, getting ahead in the world by making the logical business move, obviously.
" They're just riding the Vampire-craze over the Twilight Series.... I mean if they can get thousands of little girls to buy comics--even though they're crap-- and will profit from these books. It's a smart marketing idea, that's for sure. "I think it would be good for some of these stupid little girls to see what vampires really are not gay fairies with sparklers up their butts.
and good for marvel for realizing they can make money off this idea.
This story was complete win.
Twilight fans get a reality check (like any of them read comics but whatever)
marvel does something that is interesting
Jubilee becomes interesting again.
WINS ALL AROUND
" @fesak said:It's also not as if this is the first time someone is complaining about the vampire trend infiltrating the X-Men stories. Seriously, we were all complaining about it when it was first announced, let alone half a year into the story..." It's not like it's the first time they're fighting vampires. They first fought Dracula in 1982. "exactly, Marvel isn't trying to join the fad, they're just remaking their own stuff like Hollywood is because that's the real trend "
I read comics since 1983 (I am 41 now), so I'm not exactly a newbie. And yes, I know, the X-men fought Dracula in early 80's - Bill Sienkiewicz. Obviously, writers doesn't learn from the past...
More seriously, I don't think crossing universes and mythologies is always a good idea. Vampires and all the Dracula's stuff can be showed along characters like Swamp Thing, Jesse Custer, Hellboy or John Constantine but hardly mixed in the Marvel universe. Okay, black magic and bloody rituals and demons are shown before in X-series but, besides the fact I dislike see magic in a mutant universe (mutations work better with a rational mind than magic, I guess), there will be a serious problem of credibility. Imagine the lines : "Yes we were turned vampires once but life goes on. And yes, vampires exist all around us but it's no big deal. Don't tell, okay ?"
