History
Crystal Frost was studying to be a scientist at
Hudson University and fell in love with her instructor, Martin Stein. While working on a project in the
Arctic, Frost learned that he did not reciprocate her feelings. Distraught, Frost accidentally sealed herself in a thermafrost chamber. Frozen to the core, Crystal was transformed - she could now absorb heat from a living being and project cold and ice. She rechristened herself as Killer Frost and undertook a murderous crusade against men. Her first target was Professor Martin Stein, her former love and one half of
Firestorm. She was one of the original members of
Secret Society of Super-Villains. Clashing with the hero Firestorm on many occasions, Crystal Frost eventually met her end when she absorbed too much energy from him. This was after she discovered that her powers were slowly killing her.
Crystal Frost has been identified as one of the deceased entombed below the
Hall of Justice.
During the events of
Blackest Night her body was reanimated as a member of the
Black Lantern Corps.
