What happened that Ditko's original cool Creeper became this weird monster creature that looks like something out a Chinese New Year's parade? Am I the only one who doesn't like this version of the character -- at all? No one really did the Creeper as well as Ditko, IMO, but there are artists who could do a close facsimile.

Well I never liked the original soo. The new one has potential as a villain but not as a hero.

the original Ditko version and the classic version Giffen version were mind bendingly awesome to me to me. this.......thing we he now, i would never pay to read about it. its existence and people's enjoyment of it is an affront to me. i condemn it to the deepest, darkest corners of detroit. thats right, not even hell. I love the new Creeper. He looks like a fearsome Japanese Oni, which is a super creative and scary costume design.

he looks like that because apparently he IS an Oni in the new 52. so basically he's Japanese Etrigan now. way to f%^k up an somewhat unique and entertaining character Didio and Nocenti!!!!!!

I bought Showcase 73 off the stands, and loved it, along with the 6-issue Creeper series that followed. I was also a fan of Ditko's Question series that ran in the back of Charlton's Blue Beetle in the '60s, and for a single issue of Mysterious Suspense. I hate what DC has done to the Question ever since they first acquired the character, and now they've done an even worse disservice to the Creeper. I like many modern comics, and I'm not living in the past, but what they're doing to the Creeper is akin to updating Sherlock Holmes by turning him into a serial killer. Hopefully they'll resurrect Jack Ryder and the original Creeper along with him, to do battle with this new "fearsome" Creeper.

Steve Ditko, if you are alive and reading this, PLEASE tear Dan Didio a new one for this horrendous abomination of your work. It is a COMPLETELY different concept with an old characters name tacked on (presumably to re-up copyright). This needs to CHANGE. If they do the same with Plastic Man, well, let's see.

I don't know much about the orig Creeper, but I don't care for this one. (Wasn't the original both good & bad at different times? If so, this new one is definitely not capable of being shown to be good).

Ditko hasnt given a damn in years. he gave up on the character when DC turned him insane.

the original Ditko version was completely good, the later Giffen version toed the line but mostly always had good intentions.

All I've read about the Creeper in the New52 is from Katana. I liked Jack Ryder's story so far.

I thought the old Creeper looked like a mix of Nightcrawler and the Joker.

i wouldnt say he's a rip off. originally there was no similarity between the character's other than green hair. the whole insanity angle was later added to the creeper but possessed a couple of distinguishing qualities.

I personally don't mind the the Oni mask look and the chains and what not. I really liked the old Creeper design, but I will admit that is was one of the sillier costumes and out side of the silver age it's been hard to update. The only big problem I have with the new design is the loss of the red mane around his neck and shoulders. I think that would have looked really nice on the new design.

The origin however is unforgivable. My biggest gripe with the New 52 is how they take so many original characters, chage everything about them aside from their name and in effect make them a new character who is just like a dozen of other characters we've had before.

Almost every one of my favorite DC characters have suffered this fate. Beast Boy, Martian Manhunter, Huntress. But the worst is what DC has deemed fit to do to Ditko's characters. I mean he is one of the most iconic living comic creators, but apparently nothing he has done is good enough for DC. Both Creeper and Question are nothing like what they used to be. It really is a shame.
