Comic conventions and Cosplay. The two go together like...superheroes and tights. You have to admire Cosplayers for their dedication and commitment to taking part of this. Many Cosplayers design and construct their own costumes. Dressing up and letting people take their pictures is how they share their passion.

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, there were a lot of Cosplayers.

Aside from people dressing up and walking the convention floor, more than that happens. There are often organized gathering that take place. Many have themes to them and it really gives you an idea of just how many people are dedicating to Cosplaying.

This year we have images from two photographers. You might remember Pat Loika's HeroesCon gallery he shared with us (you can see those HERE). Pat has his own podcast you can check out HERE. Here's a sample of some of Pat's pics:

Making a return contribution is Norman Chan of Tested.com. Norm took many images last weekend. You can see his full gallery of 850 images HERE. Norm was nice enough to share some of his pics with us as well. Here's a sample of what you can see:

Looking through Norm's gallery, only 50% of Comicon was dressed as either the Joker or Harley Quinn this year. That's a disappointing step down from the normal 72.5%.

Not that I was intentionally looking for it, or anything, but the first picture of the article is semi-pornographic.

Towards the top left is a man with an apron of a nude man.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

Some constructive criticism for Pat - While I think he is very capable of taking good pictures (example), I think he could benefit GREATLY by doing some curation. I don't think it's necessary to have two pictures of Raven at almost identical angles (seriously, it's like one picture was just slightly cropped), or twenty pictures of the same group photo.

Yaya Han used to be my fav cosplayer until I discovered Linda Le.

I think Yaya Han's "developments" over the years have just made her look a bit silly a disproportionate. She's still CLEARLY gorgeous and amazingly talented, but still.

This cosplay gallery in particular really emphasizes how important it is to be creative with your costume. I just don't understand why anyone would want to be one of the 50 movie Banes, 75 Wonder Womans, or 200 Harley Quinns. Unless you are the best of the bunch (like that unbelievable Death of the Family Joker), then what's the point?

Costumes like the Wasp, Glactus, and B'Wana Beast are a welcome treat when you see them, and they prove that the person really is passionate about the characters that they are dressing up as. I didn't even realize what the putty arrow costume was until it was pointed out, and it's quite literally genius. It's the kind of costume where people might actually have to come up to you and ask about it. Isn't the whole point of making your own costume to be a discussion piece?

I'm genuinely jealous of people who put this kind of dedication into their interests. Sadly I have neither the talent nor the nerve to pull off what these guys do. Thanks for the pics.

@the_mast: Linda made an incredible Princess (from Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman) costume. I wish we had gotten a pic to post in the gallery.

This image reminds me how ludicrous it is that we don't have a decent WW game. It'd basically just be God of War with a female lead, set in modern times:

    @g_man: You mean this one?

@the_mast: "Developments" I think are what makes her cosplay wonderful though, but then again I have a love for curves so go figure! But yes, Linda Le is awesome and what I love about her is that she does "genderbend" cosplay but in a way that minimizes skin showing. Not knocking others that make cosplay sexy but you gotta hand it to Linda's creativity to do that.

Great Costumes from great Cosplayers. The Wonder Woman stood out for me because THAT is how she should look on the big screen with a skirt not a swimsuit.

In the first picture I see at least three Banes and a bugillion Jokers. Sad, with no imagination whatsoever.

I dunno. I think it takes away from it, for me. Not every character has huge boobs and Yaya Han just looks kinda disproportionate to me now. Gorgeous and good for her if that's what she wants. NO judgement here.

Just preference! Linda Le is kinda like a Snickers bar. She has everything crammed in to a tiny package. Plus, I prefer her cosplays.
