    With John Milus gone from the director's chair, so too was the brooding Wagnerian atmosphere so perfect for the Conan milieu. Richard Fleischer (yes, son of one of the Fleischer brothers known for their Superman animations) was pretty much a Disney director, and so he predictably made it a more light-hearted affair, complete with goofy humor although, thankfully, no musical numbers.  Which is not all bad - the film succeeds in it's own way, if one accepts it as an epic fantasy (ala Dunge...
