Plot Summary

Overview
A special one-shot story in honor of Conan creator Robert E. Howard's centennial! From Eisner Award-winning creators Kurt Busiek and Eric Powell, this issue tells the story of one wild and fateful night in the life of a young storyteller in an Aquilonian farming community-the night that Conan and his cohorts came to town, pursued by demons straight out of hell. Always a dreamer, telling tales of great deeds in faraway lands, the storyteller gets a first-hand look at all-out action, heroism, and sacrifice on the dusty streets of his hometown. Conan rallies the entire town to defend itself or be torn to shreds.

    Storyteller

This is a neat little side story, the Storyteller. Based obviously a little on the life and creativity of Robert E. Howard, and how he was misunderstood by those around him, it s a great tale.

My favorite line up in the Dark Horse era of Conan is back, Conan, Janissa, and Kalanthes. Without these two companions, Conan hasn't been the same as of late. Conan needs an honourable friend or two around to keep him sane. Janissa, and Kalanthes are perfect for this. Kalanthes, wise priest, and Janissa, the bitter widowmaker don't put up with Conan if he becomes too full of himself and easily put him in his place. It helps keep Conan grounded.

It is nice to see them all back in this issue. Hopefully they won't disappear for so long next time. I would really like to see them around a lot more.

The Robert E. Howard character was neat. The famous lines in his suicide note always creep me out, so having that in the comic gave this issue an eerie feeling for me.
