Ends Of The Earth, Chapter 1: An Unreasoning Frost
This poor character. She's considered the greatest female superhero ever created and yet DC can't bring one ounce of consistency to her comic series.
After a bad issue with mediocre artwork, DC finally teases us with the potential of a decent storyline and a return of beautiful visuals. Lopresti/Anderson equal the Dodsons for bringing beauty and action to the panels of Wonder Woman. Now, what still worries me is Gail Simone's writing.
As I've said in past reviews, once Gail took over there was a drastic change in the character. Suddenly when she's Wonder Woman, she speaks like Thor with a lot of "thou" and "thus" and the like thrown into her sentences. She's also acted unusual like a wolf in heat chasing after Nemesis for some weird courtship.
Luckily, in issue 20, that whole "Pon Farr" behavior is not addressed at all. Diana is put under some kind of strange mind control when she uses her lasso on a man with no soul. It draws her into another world - probably just imaginary but who knows at this point. She meets up with Beowulf in a mead hall but real question is going to be about who "Stalker" is working for and what is he up to.
Just as I was ready to cancel my subscription, the new artistic team has pulled me back in at least for another month or two. I'd rather have something that I count on being consistent with a solid storyline that has a beginning, middle and end which is not what we get in this series.
