The whole series was a wonder for the soul. For with one man the end was near and coming fast. This issue made me tear up with the scene with Galactus i was in tears. This issue was one long coming and so was the whole aspect of the comic. He was a great man an forever missed. And if a man like Galactus can see in him a truly good man and even make a promise with him, then this comic was long awaited. Absolutly loved this comic. The Art is the kind that makes you tear up it is so beautiful.

The last chapter of Norrin Radd's last days in this world is not as philosophically charged as the other issues were, but rather, it's more of a testimony to the character and what he has accomplished throughout his life. Wonderfully painted by Esad Ribic and masterfully written by JMS, this issue is a fitting conclusion to a great miniseries that as a whole stands to be one of Straczynski's best works yet. A must have not only for fans of the Silver Surfer, but comic book fans in general. For those of you wondering, the title of this story, Agnus Dei, is a Latin term meaning Lamb of God.

So do you see what they've done here? Very crafty work that operates on a number of levels. First there is the punning of our hero crowd surfing - very postmodern. Secondly though, Esad Ribic's fluid, almost trippy painting style makes the grey spaces between the characters carrying Norrin Radd seem a little like flowing dark water, the Surfer being effectively swept away. The muted colours help add to this effect. Very understated and very clever. This might be less than a year old but I think it could be recognised as a great cover for a long time to come.
I have ranked this cover no 214 as part of a long term project I am producing on my own blog 'marvel-ous' on blogspot.com re: my favourite marvel comic book covers. Please visit http://dmstarz.blogspot.com and check out the other covers that have made my top 250.
