Thrashed, Part Two
I have been reading this title since 1 and since then I have been patient with the slow pace and overall boringness...but after almost a year of this series I thought MAYBE I would care about the characters. I read a lot of comics, but with this series I care the least about the characters.
I couldn't tell you all the character's names on the team...they bore me to tears and seem really out of character. Jubilee...how I used to think you were my favorite mutant...you are now irritating and boring. Night Thrasher...I am cool with him...but he is still boring. The others could die the next issue and I would not care.
I like slow paced books, but this is ridiculous...please get the engine rolling or cancel this series.

Thrashed, Part Two
I must say, I really liked this issue. Kevin Grevioux and Paco Medina continue to deliver solid work. The only unsettling thing about this issue for me was the way Wondra (Jubilee) was portrayed in it. It's almost as if she's somehow developed a mile-wide mean streak between the last issue and this one, and it's a bit disturbing.
Night Thrasher finally agrees to give the team an explanation for his neglect and frequent dissapearances, but the reasons he gave were flimsy at best. Jubilee (who is apparently still the only one on the team who is thinking clearly) isn't fooled for a second. She calls him on it, and gets beat down for it (in a verbal/emotional sense) by the rest of the team. Even one of her closest longtime friends seems to turn his back on her, and her shock and anger at this is really the only explanation I can see for her subsequent cruelty in the control room. It was TOTALLY out of character for her, and only serves to underscore how drastically she has changed from her days with the X-Men. Her darkness and brooding anger seems to be growing and slowly consuming her, and this can't lead anywhere good.
In addition to this, other questions abound. Who was that mysterious man in Mexico? And is it just me, or is the NYPD's "Costumed Division" WAY out of its league?
Things between Jube and Thrasher are going to come to a head, and it's likely to be soon. Hang on for a bumpy ride!

Wow. I honestly couldn't disagee more. I'm loving this series, and I find the pace to be just fine. It's actually developing characters and building a storyline. But if it's just pure escapist "slash and bash" you're looking for, the next few issues are supposed to be picking up the pace a fair bit.

No I don't want that...I mean I like slow pace...Daredevil and Thunderbolts have been doing it recently...my biggest gripe is that the book doesn't sale the characters to me...most of them could die now and I would not care.

Most of the fans of the new New Warriors series fall into one of 2 categories: fans of the X-Men/GenX series who follow it for Jube and Jono, and fans of the old New Warriors series who follow it for Thrasher. Personally, I'm one of the former, but one thing both types of fans seem to have in common is that the other characters aside from these 3 (thusfar, at least) seem to be peripheral to them. That's the only real issue I can see with this book. It has 3 popular characters driving it, and a bunch of others who just happen to be there. It's a team book, and they ought to develop the team as a whole.

Yes...now that I can completely agree with. Great debate.

Honestly I'm following this for Sofia, Wondra, and Jono, and I constantly find myself having mixed feelings about it. I feel like Jubilee has benefited tremendously from this series, but characters like Sofia, Angel, and Beak are slowly but surely losing what was special about them.
I really hope Secret Invasion helps this book get its act together.
