Actually mine is really cool and not like Comic Book Guy at all... he's more like that guy in the competing comic book store in that one episode of the Simpsons.

Remember Jack Black's character in "High Fidelity"? Kinda like that, only with more patchouli.

Looks like a Hobo, smells like a Hobo.

Skeletor says:

"Looks like a Hobo, smells like a Hobo."

Yeah, customer service isn't exactly his strong suit. He's very opinionated, and doesn't mind sharing. He despises both Marvel and DC for being so "corporate" and "betraying artists and creativity with boardroom greed". He'll read nothing but independants.

Basically, to him, if some guy isn't drawing and lettering black & white comics by hand on a bench in his garage somewhere, then photocopying them and stapling the issues together himself, it isn't worth reading.

I'm a huge Marvel fan, so we've had this arguement many times before. :-)

Agree on the intire line.

I have two guys. One of them helps me alot when I'm looking for a comic, like he orders them for me if they don't have them and he looks through the entire store when I want a comic. He looked throught the entire 52 series for the one comic I wanted, and it had animal man meet those aliens. He is also very tall, lol. The other guy is the owner, he's cool, but he is not usually there when I am. Both of them are friends with my mom now.

old guy : Like Kevin Smith but fatter and red haired with a beard, who knew nothing about comics and did'nt help you at all. just sat behind the counter...and watched you look around.

new guy : Skinny, bearded, grey hair, nice guy, helps me alot.

#42 Posted by danhimself (22578 posts) - - Show Bio

it actually happened 20 years ago but he wasn't convicted or anything until last year....apparently he made it look like someone was trying to rob his store and killed her during the robery

Ok well I have a few local comicbook guys because I lived in 3 different places in the last 3 years

Vancouver,Canada-Some big goofy asian guy.Always laughs after everything he says.Knows alot about comics but I don't care for his opinion. He's really loud and he asked me what I was looking for every time I came into the store, although he saw me like everyday and the answer was nearly the same every time.

Winter Park,Florida-A bunch of fairly young comic readers. All welcomed me into the store.Always helped me find what I wanted. They also recommended that I read Wonder Woman,Manhunter,American Virgin, and Death-Defying Devil, which all turned out to be really good. They also gave me heads up on upcoming storylines because they knew alot of writers

Woodbury,NJ-An old ass dude. Was probably alive when Action Comics #1 was new lol.He knows his stuff,he knows alot about characters,he always has an interesting hypothetical question for me when I come in and seems to actually care whether I live or die because I spend alot of money in his store.Personally knows alot of comic book artists.Always has the really old books i'm looking for.

There are almost always 2 people working at my local shop, which is the largest in the New England Comics chain. I usually stop by on Wednesdays, while the proprietor (a Korean guy in his late 40's) and another woman with silver hair are working. They both wear glasses, and are under 5'4". Between them they know pretty much everything about every single thing in the store, from comics/mangas/etc. under any publisher, to D&D, Magic and other card games, action figures, anime, you name it. I count myself extremely fortunate to live so close to such an awesome shop.
