Colossus is a Russian mutant who possesses the ability to transform his entire body into organic steel, granting him tremendous strength and durability. Edit
History
Piotr Nicolaevich Rasputin grew up on his family's farm in Russia. Piotr, his older brotheHukr Mikhail Rasputin, and younger sister Illyana Rasputin were also mutants. Piotr's ability to transform his body into organic steel allowed him to work around the farm and help out neighbors. It should be noted that the Rasputin family was NOT related in any way to the fraudulent starets, or "Man Of God," Grigorii Efimovich Rasputin, who became one of the court favorites of Tsar Nicolai II through taking advantage of Tsarevich Alexei Nicolaevich Romanov's hemophilia.
One day Professor Charles Xavier came to the Russian farm to ask Piotr to join his new team of mutants, the X-Men. Xavier was recruiting a new team to rescue the original team being held on the sentient island Krakoa.
As Colossus, Piotr decided to remain in the United States to fight along side the X-Men. Piotr had a hard time adapting to the different American way of life but was an asset to his team. Eventually a young student, Kitty Pryde, came to the school and a relationship developed between the two.
During the Secret Wars storyline Colossus fell in love with an alien woman named Zsaji. She was a healer, and it seemed that healing a male patient made them fall in love with her. She died while resurrecting him.
When the Legacy Virus, a virus that killed mutants, attacked the human Moira MacTaggert, X-Man Hank McCoy finished her work and created a cure. The only way it could be activated, however, was through the death of a mutant. The cure would then be discharged throughout the world. Piotr's sister had succumbed to the virus, so he took it upon himself to infect himself with the virus and release the cure. Piotr injected himself with the virus and activated his powers, releasing the cure. The virus was gone and Piotr was dead. He was then cremated and Kitty Pryde scattered his ashes over his family's farm.
Astonishing X-Men
It turned out that Piotr did not die. He body was being held by an alien, named Ord. Ord explained that Colossus was only dead by "human" standards, and he had discovered that it was a mutant from Earth that would end up destroying his world. His goal was to experiment on Colossus's body. He revived him and, after discovering the Legacy Virus in his body, had him cured. It was Kitty who found him later and freed Piotr. Colossus returned to the X-Men and to Kitty. He and Wolverine also performeds their move, the Fastball Special.
After a fight with Danger, Cassandra Nova used Emma to launch a psychic attack against the Astonishing X-Men. Colossus battles Sebastian Shaw. Colossus is taken out quite quickly, but is later awoken by the student, Blindfold, and goes to the basement to see Cyclops shoot the psychic illusions.
Nova also put Kitty under an illusion in her mind, where Piotr and Kitty had a baby, Michael. The X-Men, including Piotr, took the baby away from Kitty. Kitty was incredibly angry and threatened Piotr by phasing and axe between his head, but Piotr then told her where they're son was. This was revealed to be a plan by Nova to get Kitty to get her body (Stuff) from a cagein the basement. We also found out that Colossus is the X-Man destined to destroy the Breakworld.
When Nova was defeated, SWORD teleported the X-Men onto they're ship, and took them to the Breakworld to stop th Breakworld from firing a missile a Earth. After having lot's of sex with Kitty, Cyclops sets up the final mission. Cyclops, Emma and Colossus make they're way to the core of the Breakworld, and if the others plan fails, he rips out the core. It is then revealed that Aghanne is behind it, revealing this to Colossus inside the core.
During this time, Colossus also fought the Hulk when he came to the Institute to ask Professor X what his choice would have been (for more, see [[World War Hulk: X-Men:vol:18786]]). HIs arms were badly bent, but these were fixed by the combined help of laser surgery (to heat his metal and allow them to bend the metal) and Elixir (to heal).
Messiah CompleX and Divided We Stand
In Messiah Complex, Colossus was part of the team that tracked the Marauders and tried to find the baby. He then took part in the final battle on Muir Island.
After the X-Men "disbanded" (not true), Colossus journeyed to Europe with Nightcrawler and Wolverine. After a stop in Germany, the guys arrive in Russia, where Colossus puts flowers on his parents grave, and they have a heart-to-heart and Colossus talks about how he "lost" the love of his life (another hint to Kitty possibly being dead or someone gone). They were then captured by the Red Room, while trying to leave on the train from Russia.
Vital Statistics
Gender: Male
Height: 6'6" when normal; 7'5" when armored
Weight: 250 lbs (114 kg) when normal; 500 lbs (225kg) when armored
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Unusual Physical Characteristics: When in his armored state, Colossus has silver organic metal eyes.
Known Super-Human Powers
In armored form, Colossus's strength and stamina are enhanced to a superhuman degree. While in this state he also does not require food, water or air to sustain himself and can withstand high impact assaults as well as extreme temperature variations. Despite this near-invulnerability, however, it is still possible to injure him, and if knocked unconscious, Colossus reverts to his human form. In his metal form, Colossus bleeds pure energy when injured, and he has no organic organs that can be damaged.
It is also worth noting that Colossus only uses these powers in violent situations with the greatest of reluctance. Instead, he feels it is his responsibility to use them for the betterment of others rather than for combat.
Alternate Realities
Earth-295
Colossus was one of the original members of Magneto's X-Men on Earth-295 (Age of Apocalypse). He was killed by his teammate Gambit after finding out that his sister was still alive in one of Apocalypse's slave camps. In trying to save her he ran through the X-men, injuring some of them and killing Shadowcat by trampling her to death.
Earth-811
The Colossus in the Days of Future Past timeline was one of the last mutants on Earth. He went through a suicide run and was killed by Sentinels while his wife, Shadowcat, searched the cause of their future.
Earth-1610
In the Ultimate universe Colossus worked as an arms smuggler for the Russian mob before being recruited into the X-Men.In this form, his organic steel is smooth and not sectioned. Early on in the series he is hinted to be gay. There are many instances where the women of the team foreshaddow his sexuality. When Angel arrives at the Xavier Intitute, Storm says that he was looking at him, along with the rest of the girls of the team. He also is seen to be more protective of the male members of the team; for instance when Magneto threatened Wolverine, Colossus beat him to a pulp. Later on in the series,Northstar who had previoulsy shown interst in him, askes Colossus to accompany him to his prom. Colossus agrees and goes. When Bishop wanted the disbanded X-MEN to come together again, he refused. He now works for a consturction agency and has moved in with his boyfriend Northstar.
Earth-1917
Earth-1917 Colossus was forced to join Weapon X.
Earth-9997
In the Earth X reality Colossus was the Tzar of Russia, and his country provided the greatest amount of food in the planet thanks to intelligence of all animals. He is constantly attacked by Life Model Decoys of Nick Fury. This version though seems to be actually Mr. Sinister who has a fascination to Jean Grey. He goes back through time to preserve her as a clone.
Earth-58163
In the House of M reality Colossus never left the farm he grew up on.
Earth-1298
In the reality known as Mutant X Colossus died in a battle with the Hellfire Club and Rogue accidentally and permanently absorbed his powers.
Earth-2149
Colossus is one of the last heroes who is not infected by the zombie virus. He is seen fighting a zombified Alpha Flight and defending a teleporter alongside Nightcrawler and Storm. He was later turned into a zombie by the zombified Fantastic Four.
