As an adult he became increasingly obsessed with creating addictive technology that will allow him to monitor and control the world's data. He also opens the Necropolitan Club.

Coal was created by Ann Nocenti and Trevor McCarthy. He made his first appearance in Klarion #1.

    Klarion

Coal begins plotting to take down the Moody coven, while also introducing his technology. He induces the young Rasp to swallow one of his buddybots, encouraging his paranoia towards his coven members. As the buddybots prove successful, he begins introducing them throughout New York. This attracts the attention of Klarion, who is opposed to the buddybots. He and Klarion fight briefly, before they are interrupted by witch hunters. When Klarion returns from his pocket dimension, Coal fights him again. He attempts to sow doubt and distrust in Klarion's mind, but fails. He is defeated when Klarion absorbs his techno-magic. He survives, though his buddybots have lost public trust.

    Powers and Abilities

Coal is partially technology, and has cybernetic enhancements that allow him to interface with the environment. His technology is so far advanced as to resemble magic.
