Civil War: Thunderbolts

Story:
The Thunderbolts led by Baron Helmut Zemo are a group of former villains aspiring to become heroes who are hired by the government to track down and capture super villains in the midst of the Civil War. The government was unaware that Baron Zemo had already been doing that for his own reasons which were to force them to join the Thunderbolts. Baron Zemo attempts to convince Captain America he has changed and that he wants to help Captain America and his resistance when they become apprehended by the government. Captain America is hesitant to say the least but Baron Zemo explains he can get them out of the Negative Zone if they are imprisoned there. Baron Zemo has a hidden agenda in a plot to outsmart the Grandmaster.

My Thoughts:
This was the first Thunderbolts comic I have ever read so it was a little confusing at first because the first two issues deal with past events that have happened in other issues I knew nothing about. The last three issues crossover into the Civil War so those were very easy to follow having read the Civil War. I must commend Tom Grummett for the fantastic art in this volume which I really enjoyed. If you're someone who wants to read the Thunderbolts this may not be the best jumping on point. I got this comic because I purchased all the Civil War tie-ins for my collection. Even without knowing any history pertaining to the Thunderbolts I still found this to be an enjoyable comic to read. I look forward to reading more about them in the future and would recommend reading them.
