Can The Fantastic Four Survive The Civil War?
Johnny Storm is recovering in the hospital after being assaulted outside a night club. Reed and Sue's marriage is being strained by their differences on the Civil War. The Thing doesn't want any part of the Civil War and leaves to Paris. While in Paris, The Thing helps local super heroes fight crime. After things start to die down, Reed and Sue try working on their marriage and inform Johnny and Ben they are taking time off from the Fantastic Four. Black Panther and Storm will temporarily fill their spots on the team.
My Thoughts:
A great story by J. Michael Straczynski in which we find even the closest team(Fantastic Four) being torn apart by the Civil War. As their entire team is faced with hardships and consequences stemming from the Civil War, the question is will it be too much for them to come back together? At the end of the volume we see Black Panther and Storm have taken Reed and Sue's spots on the team and it makes you wonder if Reed and Sue will be able to get past their problems and keep their relationship alive. The art is excellent throughout the entire book. I enjoyed seeing The Thing in Paris fighting crime. There was a little bit of comedy in here that actually made me laugh. Another great tie-in the one of the best Marvel events ever written. If you have enjoyed the Civil War or are a fan of the Fantastic Four then you should definitely read this.
